Hi friends! Trying to keep up with the blog, coursework, and writing for the paper is always a challenge! Good thing I like challenges =)
2014 keeps getting crazier and crazier I tell you, but I finally made some time for JMC and Altuzarra for Target. As this semester continues to unfold I find myself reaching for more wearable pieces, pieces that I can slip on and run out to catch the bus. When I first saw Altuzarra for Target I was ecstatic for the trench coats and luxurious pajama sets, but unfortunately my Target didn't carry those pieces. Instead it carried wrap dresses that were unsuitable for my petite frame =( but luckily I found this sweatshirt on sale, for $8 (originally for 29.99)! I like to pair this sweatshirt with Urban Outfitters BDG jeans, and H&M Chelsea boots.

Other than Altuzarra for Target, life has been fairly good to me! This semester continues to get busier and busier. I'm just about ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas break. I'll finally get an adequate amount of time to see friends and family, and learn how to make all the fun seasonal drinks at the Bucks! Get ready for lots of Instagram's of Starbucks' red cups!

Hello! Anyone, out there? It hasn't been that long since my last post, has it? Well as usual studying for my defense against the dark arts classes take up most of my time. However, I dream of blogging periodically, and I finally got around to giving JMC a facelift!
It's finally here- summer is coming to an end. I'm hurrying to buy the last minute things I need while also packing up my room at home for my apartment and trying to fit a hair appointment in all at once. I'm also mentally preparing myself for this upcoming fall semester away from some of the people I love most in the world. I recently said goodbye to two of my best friends last week and I'll say goodbye to two more at the end of this week.

 Last week I was on vacation with my family in New York! My time with the city that doesn't sleep was short, (we spent only a week we usually spend 2) but it was packed with so much. My family and I spent some time in the Poconos, went on a waterfall trail, did some superb shopping, went bowling, went to a casino, and I even had time to do some fat henna! (See below) I told you, we did a lot! I'm really thankful that we decided to go back home this year =') I hope all of you got to take some time off for vacation!

I can't believe that this is going to be the last of my summer shoots with my dear friend Katie. Katie goes to the University of Michigan where she kicks major ass as a Style Guru for College Fashionista. It breaks my heart that I won't be seeing her til' Christmas time. ='( Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder though!

While shopping in New York I found this beautiful cream skirt at Forever 21 and couldn't believe my eyes. The intricacy and quality of the skirt was incredible. It looked like something out of a Free People catalog instead of Forever 21. Although I have something similar to this skirt I felt like it would be wearable throughout the seasons. Plus it was just too beautiful. I paired it with a simpler tank (stolen from my mothers closet), and to get the fall vibes going tied a flannel around my waist for a little bit of a twist. I think that this skirt can easily be worn up or down depending on whether you want to showcase it or not. My birkenstocks have been doing some major work this summer I'm sad to have to put them away. Lastly, my nails are my one last hoorah for summer, I'm wearing I Just Can't CopeA-Cabana by OPI. See you soon!

Back in May I received an e-mail from a lovely lady named Shona who invited me to write a piece amongst other fashion bloggers about my take on a specific spring/summer trend for CHICSHA the Magazine

My trend was lace (fringe & frills) and I personally changed my outfits with accessory tweaks rather than finding every lace piece in my closet to exemplify the trend. I believe that you should fill your closet with a few great pieces and learn how to put them to work rather than just fueling trends! Because let's be honest here, how long do you think that trend will last? Or work for your body? Or last throughout seasons?! Did I get you there? I think the third issue of this online magazine is incredible and I  am excited to see what other fabulous things CHICSHA will do!

Below I shared some photos that were not featured, taken by my wonderful friend Katherine Campbell. Read the issue here!

As long as I can remember jeans have been a second skin to me.
 Even in the sweltering hot Kansas City summers I can't help but want to wear jeans, like all the time. Denim just feels so great to me, but sometimes I feel that skinny jeans are too casual and confining. I've been looking into other pants to try and I came across these Brandy Melville Susannah Harlem Pants. Though I really wish I was taller they are immensely comfortable and give me a loose look and vibe that I yearned for. I am excited to see how I can transition them into the fall ^_^

My favourite Katherine ever, took these spectacular shots of me in a tree. I wish you guys could've been with us! I fought off ants and Spiderman scary spiders! The ones where I have only one shoe on are probably due to me invading a poor ant populations home. In other news, summer is going by way too quickly! I'm not emotionally ready for July to be over! I have been buying too much black furniture from IKEA for my apartment, and Candidly Nicole on VH1 has become my new favourite show (after Suits of course.)

Sometimes I feel like I don't share enough about my personal life on Je M'appelle, so I thought I would make this neat little graphic inspired from a post by the Fox & She. Here's a few little details about me if you didn't know!

Sometimes I feel like I don't share enough about my personal life on Je M'appelle, so I thought I would make this neat little graphic inspired from a post by the Fox & She. Here's a few little details about me if you didn't know!
{I made a GIF!}

Summer has been killin' it for me! I've been loving these past few rainy days among the notably hot days. Life has been been super busy with: friends, my internship at Deux Hommes, making hella' drinks at Starbucks, and struggling through microeconomics. I guess I'm not complaining minus the last part, micro is the worst.

Last week my fabulous friend Katie Campbell (who has also been killing it at College Fashionista took some pictures of me wearing my favourite new dress. When I got home from college I was so stressed out upon not having ample space in my closet. So I decided to give in and sell a few pieces of mine on Vinted. Thus far it has been pretty successful! You have the option to swap or sell and I've been swapping a whole lot! Oops! Do you want to know what I swapped for this Anna Sui dress? A gold clutch I used once for prom last year! Pretty sweet deal, huh?

Well I am wearing an Anna Sui dress, my beloved silver birkenstocks, and Sephora's "Escape to Rio" lipstick in Neon Rouge Bikini (I'm obsessed). Hope summer is treating all of you! What are you spending your summer doing? I found out pretty recently I'll be going back home to NYC for a week and spending some time in the Poconos!
{Always wearing these birkenstocks, yes}

If you saw my last post you may have noticed that I was asked to be featured in a blogger spread by CHICSA Magazine recently! So I decided to give my take on fringes & frills for the summer/fall trend. Have you heard? Fringe is the new peplum! Similar to my last post, I am not going to share the entire post for you since it'll be in the issue but I wanted to give y'all another preview. (;

I never wear lavender. At all. When I was in fourth grade my mother insisted on making me wear a lavender dress for a photoshoot, and I've detested the colour ever since.

Katherine Campbell and I were recently united and had the grandest time may I add! I hadn't seen her since Christmas break so catching up and working on another project which I'll air soon (; was too much fun.

Greetings Loved Ones!
Dear Mme. Sayers as I call her (Shea) from Bon Chic Bon Gastronomique inspired me to do a "currently" post. If you ever wonder what I am doing during my long durations of disappearance  here you go!

Reading: I just finished Rainbow Rowell's Eleanor and Park. I loved almost every single moment of it, and felt just about every emotion while reading this. I don't wanna ruin anything for you, but if you're looking for something new to read, well this is it! I also have been reading David Levithan's the Lover's DictionaryIt is a compilation of stories and words all describing the crazy aspects of love.

Listening to: Oh my goodness, I cannot stop listening to Iggy Azalea's the New Classic. Let me tell you, it is classic. I can't stop humming little bits from each song! My favourite tracks have to be: Don't Need Y'all, 100 feat. Watch The Duck, Impossible is Nothing, and Black Widow feat. Rita Ora

Watching: Devious Maids. While most of my favourite shows (cough, Suits) are on break until summer I finally got around to watching Devious Maids. Turns out the drama and the cast drive me crazy, in the best way possible! The second season just started and I am beyond ecstatic.

Coveting: I have really started admiring the birkenstock trend. The only problem is the only ones I want are specifically $255 Rachel Zoe's Fawn Two Band Sandals.  What differentiates them from other birkenstocks is the metallic foil that covers the natural cork. Ultimately, the metallic foil draws me to these birkenstocks compared to others.

What else is new?
Well I will be done with my first year at university in just about three weeks! JMC has some exciting collaborations coming up too and I will finally be reunited with Katie from Katherine Campbell Photography. Speaking of, go check out her portfolio thus far. Katie and I are planning on doing one shoot a week, and I'd like to start "Life-talks with Katie" where we cover a new topic for a life-talk every shoot!
Also, I have a Starbucks barista job lined up! To keep the good vibes going, my future roommate Whitney and I also signed a lease for an apartment next year. Really exciting stuff y'all. =') Cannot wait for the summer so I can really start blogging more frequently again.
Cheesin' with my satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Co. I got for my birthday ^_^ *My roommates top!
Second pedicure of all time, how am I doing?

Second pedicure of all time, how am I doing?
Today has been such a beautiful day! I cannot believe it's already April? 2014 is flying by so fast. Guess who is celebrating her 19th birthday with butterscotch-chocolate chip scones (hopefully) next Wednesday? This chick! I've only asked for a few things like: Downtown by Calvin Klein, a Satchel from the Satchel Co, and Suits season 1 & 2.

In other news, I finally did some shopping these past couple weeks and had to share. Right after spring break my roommate told me about this gnarly thing Modcloth had going on called, "Stylish Surprise." Essentially you pay $10, choose a size, and they send you a garment ranging from $30-$300. Pretty good deal, huh? I got a dress which I am wearing as a skirt called Frost & Foremost by Minuet. I do love Modcloth's uniquely named items, it always makes me smile. The dress was originally $75 and I got it for $10! Though it looks a tad awkward on me and certainly isn't a "Chanel" dress I like that its springy and can be layered with a piece on top. There was also this great clothing sale at my university and I found a $150 Free People dress for $25! This sweater I am wearing was only a dollar  as well! My clutch is c/o TrendyBlendy. It's called Seal the Deal in Teal Purse I really love it because of the versatility and because it can hold so much. I can pretty much shove everything into it and if I do get sick of using it as a clutch I can turn it into a purse with cords inside. Its gorgeous colour is enough to make anyone fall in love with it.

I am wearing: American Eagle sweater, Frost & Foremost dress from Modcloth, Love Culture flats (details)Seal the Deal in Teal Purse c/o TrendyBlendy, Necklace from Forever 21, Rings from H&M, and my nail polish is Merry Mermaid by NailUV
