Lady in Navy

October 11, 2017

When I was visiting D.C. back in August I stopped by a Saks Off Fifth. I'm pretty sure I let out a gasp when I saw this Marchesa Notte embroidered short sleeve cocktail dress on the rack...in my size...75% off. I was dead. My love for Marchesa is endless. All of their designs speak to me without words transcending their sheer beauty and elegance. If I could go back to all the important moments in my now twenty something life that needed a dress I would've worn this one, but I have it now and that's what's important.

I've wanted a Marchesa dress for ages now. So when fate decided to intervene it was hard to say no. Not to say I didn't have a debate with myself, I had a long talk deciding how practical it would be to own this dress. However I just couldn't say no.

To transition this dress to winter I think I would also style this dress with a faux fur stole and gold heels. An affordable gold or navy Tory Burch clutch might be my next search, but secretly I hate buying accessories for one outfit even if they might be able to work with other pieces. Its easier to buy accessories that work for multiple outfits in my idea.

So today I'm playing dress up in my new favorite dress. I even bought a pair of shoes to go with it! How do you like them? They're from the SJP collection, I think originally there was a embellished strap over the vamp but I much prefer the shoes without them. They are constructed with a textile upper and leather outsole. I can't wait to get another pair of SJP Collection heels, so beautiful! I could see myself wearing these heels with denim and a nice blouse or even with my blue J.Crew wrap dress.
Never getting over this wicker bag it has become one of my favorite and most dearest pieces.

Since it's officially fall I figured I'd include a short wish list into my post. Starting at the top left Anna Sui is my favorite designer and her INC collaboration with Macy's is so fun and incorporates some of her most notable looks  such as western, bohemian, and rock n' roll! There are a couple pieces I've been interested in specifically this top, and dress. I desperately need a new hairbrush and I'm in between getting a Sonia Kashuk or Wet Brush, any thoughts? I've also recently been getting more active so I've been scouring Stella McCartney activewear, but investing in some Lulu pieces. I feel like activewear is such a challenge because I don't know how much I want to invest/how many pieces I need?! HELP! I have also been so fixated on a red dress, probably because my mind is subconsciously preparing for Christmas. Do you think I should get it?! What have you been lusting?
As of Thursday I'm on fall break and I've finished my first class towards my MBA ^_^ I've never had a fall break before so I'm super psyched. I'll be catching up on Mr. Robot, Riverdale, copiously reading, working on new content, and hopefully see Bladerunner 2049. Anyone else feel like they have a dress they wished could've been there for them earlier in their life?
