October Sephora Play 2017 Review

December 19, 2017

I'm surprisingly only a month behind on this Sephora Play review, but I've tried the hell out of these products and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you today. All of these products were new ones. Although I am familiar with all the brands some products were completely new for me to try!
Grab an eggnog latte and let's talk this past month's Sephora Play box.
This is a full coverage waterproof concealer with anti-aging benefits and it claims to reduce the appearance of dark circles. Ok, so first I'd like to say I'm a huge fan of some of IT Cosmetics products especially Your Skin But Better, something I've got in a Sephora Play box and adored. However, this concealer was strange for me. Its so full coverage it hurts. For me its barely blendable even with my favorite brush. I usually put concealer on after I put on foundation, but I need to switch this product up and see if it works better in terms of blending. On the other hand, the product itself definitely has illuminating properties. My dark circles are not bad especially with my first semester towards my MBA done, but I always appreciate full coverage and waterproof products since I cry a lot haha.
This is a long-wearing fan favorite foundation. Honestly its coverage reminded me of a Sephora Collection foundation. I didn't dislike it nor did I love it. I did find that the sample matched me quite well, and held the wear of a normal medium-high coverage foundation. It was nice to switch it up and try a new foundation, but I don't think I'll be purchasing this anytime soon.
This is a pore- minimizing priming spray with coconut water. I always love a good spray from Sephora Play and in the December '16 Sephora Play box I received the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray setting spray which was quite nice. I've been using primer a lot recently *cue audible gasp* because my skin has been quite patchy lately. Although this product doesn't quite do all the priming, I've had to use my YSL primer it aids primer nicely and the scent of the spray is so nice/refreshing.
I've had some pretty great experiences from Sunday Riley minis in Sephora Play. This baby is a vitamin c (15%) concentrated serum that brightens, smooths, and hydrates skin while also preventing signs of aging. This serum has definitely helped brighten up some of my dark spots/hyper pigmentation. I feel like this product really kicks in immediately and instantly I can see areas of my face being refreshed.
Micellar water was something I was always curious about but never got around to trying. Its essentially a no-rinse cleanser that removes makeup. The Play Book instructs to use the cleansing water with a cotton ball and to soak/glide it over skin, but I prefer to put a little in my hand and go at it. I have to rinse/wash my face with a cleanser after using it.  Overall, I just don't think these products on their own really do that great of a job cleaning your face. For me my face just feels incredibly oily. I could see it being good for late nights, but I just think rinsing is still a must. I can't help but think in a Carrie Bradshaw-esque fashion, is it really washing your face if you don't rinse?
Gucci Bloom is a floral perfume with jasmine bud, tuberose, and rangoon creeper. Its a true floral, but I think its absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I'm surprised its taken me so long to try this perfume. I might even buy a small size sometime, who knows!
November's Sephora Play was a good one! Although I had a few qualms with this month's products there were some definite home runs and its nice to have some new products to try!

  9. Great review- this concealer sounds crazy! You have to be able to blend it- when it dries too fast it can be really tough to work with.
