The Jewelry Groove

December 10, 2017

Jewelry and I have had a long, complicated relationship. It started in 6th grade visiting my grandparents in New York for the summer when I'd stumble upon loads of discounted Claires earrings at tiny shops in Queens. Although my bartering skills strengthened, I collected more Mary-Kate and Ashley jewelry than I'd like to admit. And over the years I collected more and more eclectic jewelry with a slight fixation on Hello Kitty jewelry.
Over the years I got rid of many of those pieces of jewelry I so carefully found. Many of them didn't bring me joy, and my earlobes were getting a little heavy from the constant chandelier earrings Alexa Chung stopped wearing. Fast forward to my Junior year of college where I barely wore jewelry on a daily basis, but sometimes I'd throw on a minimalistic necklace or a midi ring for kicks.
Since then I have gradually been wearing jewelry here and there. Mainly a watch, Kate Spade rings, and dainty necklaces. When Happiness Boutique reached out to me to try some of their lovely jewelry I was initially hesitant. Although I'm always scared of accumulating too much stuff I admitted to myself that I'm in a different place now, and ready to start rebuilding a jewelry collection.
The Half Moon Necklace in gold is the perfect necklace for everyday. Its a piece I can wear out to coffee, dinner, and to class. Plus I feel like it just transcends through styles of clothes from when I'm feeling more casual to wearing a LBD.

All smiles for this Anthropologie Edme & Esyllte Bryn White Button Down Peplum Shirt I found on eBay for $17! Although it is slightly large I like owning a few shirts that don't accentuate how petite I am.
I love this matching earring set. I tend to wear earrings on more special occasions but I see myself wearing these on a daily basis!
I've always liked the evil eye Pinterest look but never found a set that I really like. The Lucky Evil Eye Layered Necklace in gold is a perfect layered necklace that can be worn with t-shirts to dressier blouses like this one!

Hope everyone is enjoying their December and staying warm! It has gotten chilly here in Kansas City and I'm loving the wardrobe change. Tune in next week folk, so much coming your way!

  4. You look gorgeous in these photos! I love the minimalist pieces. I am a jewelry junkie so I totally need to clean out my collection to focus on the pieces I wear more often.
