Getting Drunk for a Month

February 8, 2018

Ok this post title is a little deceiving as it has nothing to do with drinking, but more about drinking in skincare. For the past month or so I've been getting drunk in love on Drunk Elephant's products. Drunk Elephant is a skincare line created by Tiffany Masterson. Its rooted in simple skin care with clean, additive-free ingredients that work hard. Many of its products are infused with fruit of the marula tree which notoriously gets elephants drunk. I was so excited to receive these products to try from Drunk Elephant and am so grateful. Now let's talk about my month getting drunk!
This is a gentle, multi-tasking bar that deeply cleanses, tones, balances, and moisturizes. I will say that solid bars are my least favorite way to make a cleanser. I totally am for the reduction in packaging, but as a germaphobe I am left confused as to where to put this bar after using it. However I cleaned out an old Soap & Glory travel size tin and this bar is nestled safely in it.  Out of the two bars I did like this bar slightly more. With virgin marula oil, blueberry extract, and honey this bar is like magic. After using it a whitehead scar was gone the next morning. My face felt moisturized still and my skin just felt brighter. The feeling is hard to explain but I promise my skin was so glad I gave it a wash with this bar. I will note that I did take my makeup off with micellar wipes, a glycolic cleanser, and then used this bar. However on some days where I don't wear makeup I just cleanse with the Pekee Bar.

This is an ultra-mild, 3-in-1 bar that deeply cleanses, subtly exfoliates and heals. This bar is great for when my skin is being unruly, and I need something to cope for the spots and dullness. This bar definitely leaves my face brighter and softer in the morning. The ingredients in this bar consist of heilmoor clay which tones the skin, virgin marula oil, and bamboo powder.
This pretty serum is a multipurpose one with vitamin C to help brighten and even skin tone. Although I can't say that this day serum made my skin any noticeably brighter it definitely helped when applying my makeup! It works nicely as a primer for normal skin.
This is a resurfacing overnight serum to diminish acne, fine lines and dullness. Ok I've been using this night serum consistently and let me tell you the dullness has diminished. I had the worst pimple that wasn't ready to be popped, but I did (I know, I know). It bled and left the most horrid mark. I thought it would be months before the scar would heal. I have the worst acne scars from impatience, really. Nevertheless, I had been using this night serum everyday even more when I had this horrid acne scar. After 5 or so days this serum really helped clear up my skin and helped my skin overall.
This is a creamy, whipped moisturizer that brightens, hydrates and firms all skin types. I tried this cream back in 2/17 and was a huge fan! I was hoping that this moisturize would prove to last 10+ hours as it had back when I first tried it. I don't know whether maybe I just wasn't as aware this time around, but I didn't feel like it lasted as long as it used to when I tried it last. Nevertheless I still like this cream very much and it definitely helps brighten up my skin.
This is a rehabilitative skin serum to enrich skin and reduce photodamage. At first I was a little weary of this facial oil but now it has become apart of my skin routine. My skin feels so hydrated, refreshed, and rehydrated after using it. I definitely think this oil would be a great gift for all ages! It just feels so replenishing and nourishing.
Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm
I feel like all I find myself needing this winter is Riverdale and my supply of chapsticks. This lippe balm is pretty life changing. It helps nourish lips, while also plumping up your lips. I was skeptical about a $18 lip balm, but this one is for real. You don't need to apply a million coats or put it on more than a few times a day. Which is so different from my other lip balms. Your lips are actually moisturized! I think if you're looking for a good higher end lip balm, this is the one for you! If you're hesitant go try it at Sephora, a beauty advisor will sanitize it for you! The only con is that I wish this had peppermint oil or maybe some essence in it to add a scent or flavor, but I'll get by.
Ok questions? Is this supposed to burn like slightly? I've never had a facial before. I've watched Bravo/E! celebs have facials and don't remember burning, but maybe I'm just naive... This facial left my skin a little red/pink afterwards, but my skin felt amazing! I wish I had more mini facials like this for nights where I'm saying in. Hello Sephora Favorites idea, mini facials! This packaging is my most favorite out of the bunch because I have a thing for blush/baby pink right now.
B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel
This blue beauty is a ultra-hydrating vitamin B5 gel that replenishes nutrients while delivering hydration throughout the day to improve skin texture and tone. Lately my skin has just not felt hydrated at all especially with the weather. This gel has really been saving the day adding the extra moisture I need into my skin in the morning after I moisturize.

Umbra Sheer Physical Defense SPF 30
This is a non-irritating, broad-spectrum sunscreen with antioxidants. I love a good sunscreen especially one like Drunk Elephant's with clean ingredients. I have been using this sunscreen as a daily moisturizer and love it.
I'm kicking myself for not color coordinating these products for the photos like they are in my medicine cabinet, but c'est la vie!

Have you ever tried Drunk Elephant's products? What are your favorites?

I received these products complimentary from Drunk Elephant for testing purposes. All opinions are always my own.

  3. I love Drunk Elephant! I haven't tried all of their products, but Framboos and Marula Oil are on a heavy rotation - I just love how delicate both of them are and they work incredibly well for a sensitive skin type. I really want to try their lip balm, Lala and Sukari now! Thanks for sharing xx

  4. Amazing title of the post :D I've heard about drunk elephant before but I don't think this brand is available in Europe. I think that I've heard a lot about Marula Oil thanks to Deciem drama.

  6. To answer your question: yes, the Babyfacial does sting! I've even heard some people who are familiar with acids couldn't keep it on their face for the full 20 min the first time, but eventually got used to it. I've tried a few samples of DE products, but wasn't too impressed. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to try out their Pekee + Juju bar though! I'll probably get the travel sizes from Sephora to try out.

    1. Thanks for telling me Sam, really needed some input! Initially when I tried the samples I wasn't floored so I understand how you feel. Those bars are definitely a game changer minus the solid bar no packaging thing. You should!

  12. This is a brand highly raved throughout the beauty world but I can't justify spending so much money! I know skincare is an investment but damn, I have to save for a long time. LOL!

    1. I totally understand Shireen. At first I thought the hype for DE and the price was outrageous. However the night serum has literally helped keep my skin clear for a MONTH! Plus the brand has just really changed my skincare game. Try some samples or buy some off eBay if you want to test them. I was definitely hesitant but now I'm a believer!
