freya poplin dress

A few summers ago when I was still in undergrad and interning for Anthropologie I helped with a window display where we showcased this dress.

I thought the dress was beautiful and very unique. I wasn't sure if it was exactly me as I don't own anything in orange nor do I think I ever have, but I always had it in the back of my mind. Thinking about it from time to time when I'd reminisce on my intern days there although I think the candles make me feel the most nostalgic.

Over Christmas I started looking for something new to wear to a wedding in June. I ended up finding this dress for $30 originally retailing for $168?! It ended up completely missing a strap (thus why it was so cheap), but my Mom got it for me as a Christmas present and ended up fixing it for me too (thanks Mom).

This dress just makes me happy! Its so fun to just twirl around in and is very comfortable! I think I'd add a necklace to this dress and change my lip color to something more bold, maybe a fuchsia!

I struggle finding the right shoes for this dress. I really am going for the full on Carrie Bradshaw look. I found a great J. Crew and Charlotte Olympia pair but they were just too pricey and I couldn't see myself wearing them with anything else. In terms of a handbag I found myself wearing this dress with my wicker bag but a clutch would work as well.

In terms of makeup here I played it pretty safe here. I'm wearing KVD's Shade + Light palette (an essential for anyone's makeup bag). Nevertheless, I did wear some NYX glitter brillants (pressed glitter & my new favorite thing) I found from Marshalls in a copper shade with this dress and I think that was a fun way of spicing it up.
Its sweltering here in Kansas City. Seems like one of the hottest summers we've had in while to be honest. I've been buzzing like a bee over here trying to finish my summer classes and take my weekly Marshalls pilgrimage. It has been challenging, but I'm really loving my new job and the people who I work with. I'll see y'all in July!
Wearing: Dress - Anthropologie (sold out but here's one I love), shoes - Something Blue by Betsey Johnson (sold out but similar), lips - NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes
