When summer first started the Drunk Elephant fairy sent me some goodies. However, life being one crazy, beautiful mess explains why in late August I am finally reviewing these magical products that seamlessly have transitioned from the summer to the beginning fall (I know we aren't there yet but soon). In case you have never heard Drunk Elephant is a skincare line created by Tiffany Masterson. Its rooted in simple skincare with clean, additive-free ingredients that put in overtime.
These products specifically these three guard, protect, preserve, nourish, and balance the skin. In case you're itching for more about their products catch up with my review from last February about getting drunk for a month on their products, here.
This is the newest Drunk Elephant family member. Tiffany Masterson the creator of DE wanted something she could mix into her products that could give her skin some color without any irritants or weird ingredients. This is a silky, natural-looking bronzing concentrate and damn do I wish that this product could've been there for me in high school. Its made of vitamins, antioxidants, platinum peptides that protect the skin. Essentially sunshine in a bottle. Its a bronzer that can be used on your face or body with a realistic glow.  A much better deal than all the e.l.f. bronzer I used to buy >.<

My skin has tanned so much this year and so many of my foundations were slightly too light. My face is also slightly lighter than my neck which is a pain. I honestly don't like matching my face to my neck everyday. I just try to find a foundation that matches so closely I don't have to do my neck but with flash this issue isn't solved. This concentrate helps warm up my foundation so much that I don't feel like my neck looks unusual. 1 drop definitely adds a sunshine glow (which is recommended) but I add about 3 lol. It also provides such a warm glow that is natural and not Jersey Shore looking at all. This serum reminds me of the Magically Cool Liquid Powder from the M.A.C Venomous Villainous collection (long long gone but reaching for another product) it used to give me a bronzed look and was very simple.
I wrote about the Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense back in February. Since then I have religiously been using this sunscreen. It has SPF 30. This is a non-irritating, broad-spectrum sunscreen with antioxidants. I love a good sunscreen especially one like Drunk Elephant's with clean ingredients. Its crazy how many people don't know what's in the products they are using I highly suggest looking into sunscreen's ingredients. Think Dirty is an iOS app that tells you the ingredient in your cosmetics. I don't usually get serious about all the cosmetics I use but sunscreen and deodorant's ingredients are super important to me P.S. who is with me that every foundation should have sunscreen in it-ITS 2018!
This is a rehabilitative skin serum to enrich skin and reduce photo-damage it nourishes and balances while giving a little glow. When I first started using this I was a little weary of this facial oil but now it has become apart of my skin routine. I mix it with this heavy-ish face cream I got from Marshalls (they can't all be winners) Honeylab Dry Skin Rescue Intense Moisturizer. My skin and nails feel so hydrated, refreshed when I use this oil. I really suggest this to anyone as a gift. Especially those who are just dipping their feet into the DE life.
Overall this trinity is one that I suggest to any skin care lover. DE suggests the #vacationface smoothie 1 drop of D-Bronzi, pea-sized amount of sunscreen, and 1-2 drops of Virgin Marula Oil. I add a bit of moisturizer + the day serum and its a great way to prime/prep my normal skin for my busy days.
Out of all of these products I would definitely repurchase the D-Bronzi / Umbra Sheer Physical Defense. However I often consider what life would be like if I bought everything I wanted from DE. I love both of their face creams so much. As the Sephora sale is headed to us I am holding back on all of my shopping for September which is sad but necessary as I spent my whole clothing budget for September in three days over vacation in August lol

Have you ever tried Drunk Elephant's products? What are your favorites?

A huge round of applause to my friend Mallory for helping me bring this post to you all!

I received these products complimentary from Drunk Elephant for testing purposes. All opinions are always my own.

The DE Trinity

As I get older I have been transitioning my skincare from drug store products to cleaner and greener skincare. Although ingredients are not entirely the most important factor for me, they are definitely a consideration. Especially in terms of their effect on the environment. I've stopped using makeup wipes and switched completely over to the Makeup Eraser which I love/hate but that's for a different day... Ultimately I'm trying to buy and support more clean and green beauty/skincare.

Lately I have been working on reducing how much beauty products I use and throw away. I have been really trying to recycle all my products. Thankfully, I have finally been accepted into TerraCycle's beauty recyling program. The program allows me to recycle skin care, hair care, and cosmetic packaging. This program is pretty amazing because you can recycle lipstick tubes, mascara tubes, eye shadow cases, eyeliner, haircare products, etc. As a smaller beauty enthusiast and dare I say beauty blogger I feel guilty throwing away tubes  of mascara and eyeliner pencils. Now I'm on my way to collecting 10 lbs of cosmetic packaging so TerraCycle can make new recycled products.
Ren Skincare is a new green brand that I've heard about. They have a goal of zero waste by 2021, which IS INCREDIBLE. Their packaging is 100% recyclable and they are cleaning up beaches/the ocean. I think its amazing that beauty companies like Ren are making a move to be more than a skincare company. Ren also has face and body products which is so exciting!
The Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask is a 10 minute mask for sensitive skin and irritated, or stressed skin. Although I don't have sensitive skin I think stressed out skin is my life. REN uses white mushroom extract which helps reduce irritation to calm the skin. There's also gotu kola and horse chestnut flower extract which help reduce redness and repair the skin. I realllly like this mask, mainly because it has a great consistency and it feels like you're putting a cloud on your face. They suggest putting this mask on for 10-15 minutes but for normal skin 20-30 minutes would be fine too.
Ah, day cream. The first step in my makeup routine. This day cream helps calm, hydrate, and soothe sensitive skin. The thing I like about REN Clean Skincare is that I see this product working for so many different types of skin. Sensitive skin, normal skin, etc. This cream isn't too heavy for everyday wear. For some reason there is something oily-ish to this cream that I don't like. It just feels a smidge too heavy for me.

You can find REN Clean Skincare in the clean at Sephora section, NET-A-PORTER, and Dermastore. I also listed some great sets which would be good for the holiday season. Aside from trying out some new skincare brands I have been busy with school and life. I have been shopping for Xmas like crazy and I might even buy a tree!

Ren Clean & Green Skincare

Hi friends! 2018 is moving too fast don't you agree?! I have been so busy these past few weeks. Last week I went to D.C. to visit family and take a mini vacation. This is my final week before I start my classes again so I am trying to pack as much as I can into this last weekend while trying to avoid my homework. Here's a few snaps of what I've been up to.
Like I said I went to D.C. last week and it wouldn't be a trip to our nation's capital without going to see a museum or two. I stopped by the Smithsonian Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art. Back in July I went to Omaha and visited my friend Jessica. She was so sweet and made an itinerary for my trip and suggested possibly the best ice cream I've had in my entire life called Coneflower Creamery. It was so good I went back the next day. Aside from trips I have been busy attending blogger events. I went to Shop Modern Society's opening which you might have seen on my Instagram story, I saw a pre-screening of Crazy Rich Asians thanks to a blogger friend, and I went to a Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen Menu Tasting Event where I got to try so many delicious things! I loved their onion rings, New Orleans pasta, and of course homemade chocolate fudge cake. They also have some great non-alcoholic drinks! Overall, I was amazed at how affordable and tasty their menu is. There are so many options plus they are super friendly with dietary restrictions.

Now onto outfit details. To be honest I only own a few graphic t-shirts and this Mariah one was one I had wanted found it on Urban Outfitters for a relatively good price and snatched it up immediately. Vintage MC shirts are expensive! I had been looking for a vintage Mariah shirt FOREVER. Don't get me wrong 2k Mariah is still great, but 90s Mariah is iconic.
What might be surprising to is that I actually am very hesitant about graphic tees mainly because in middle school (a very traumatic time) I am accumulated so many clothes and graphic tees over the years, and I still need to send them to ThredUp. Crazy how your whole middle school wardrobe is not supposed to last. I hope this trend can change in the future. Now I really think about whether graphic shirts in my closet are going to be durable or fleeting like in middle school. I only have few other shirts like a Molly Ringwald shirt I gave to my friend for a grad gift but she never wore it so now I have it haha.

I think for styling graphic tees you have to keep it simple. For me I chose some plain denim from Urban Outfitters and my new favorite loafers. Which I reviewed on this post, here.
What's your favorite graphic tee? I'll see you next week  folks! It feels sad to say goodbye to summer but we'll be drinking pumpkin spice chais so soon!

Many KC-itians are familiar with Baldwin! Our hometown brand that has been changing the denim game. I had been looking for the perfect Baldwin piece to add to my collection and I think I found it. The Kendall. This long denim maxi skirt made specifically for Kendall Jenner from Anna Wintour. When I first saw this skirt I wasn't sure how to feel about it. Of course there is very little that KJ can't pull off. However, I have nightmares about wearing denim skirts from middle school and I think embarrassingly once or twice in high school. Nevertheless, the denim skirt is coming out of retirement for me and is ready to work! Literally I wear this skirt to work on casual Fridays. I am wearing a size 24 for reference.

Back in my early days getting into makeup Almay was my go to brand. I mean it! I virtually owned everything from powder foundation, liquid foundation, to every type of black eyeliner they sold.
