Violet, you're turning violet, Violet! Truthfully, violet is a color that I've never really had in my closet. Not for any particular reason, I guess I've just never pushed myself out of my color comfort zone until recently when I decided I wanted more colors in my dress collection.

Greetings loved ones! Urban Decay sent me these goodies back in June and I am finally getting around to trying them. I have recently been trying to pan through all of my makeup before I buy/try new ones (eyeshadow is the exception of course). Back in my seventh grade years eyeliner and mascara were my go to makeup products. I would rub them off on the bus so my mom didn't see haha (CoverGirl and LA Girl mascara *cringe*). Still these two are my go-to makeup products and one isn't the same without the other. You just don't feel the same when you forget to put on mascara, honestly.

Last spring I got an invitation in the mail from my best friend/sister to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. I started bawling in my kitchen. This was the first time I have been asked to be someone's bridesmaid! Seeing someone I love so much get married to the love of her life is one of those moments that you feel so grateful and lucky to be apart of. My sister is the coolest person ever because she told her bridesmaids that we could pick out our own dresses because she wanted us to be able to wear them again. Her only guiding advice was that our dresses be around the shade of a blue orchid.

I know fall has just begun but I am beginning to round up my inspiration and make my wish list for this season. Overall, I am inspired by elegant but minimalist looks, and monochromatic colors. My fall/winter uniform would be a cashmere sweater or turtleneck, skinny jeans, ankle boots, a classic leather bag, and glam makeup + a silk scarf somehow thrown in there. Here is some of my inspiration.

The real question is how many blog titles can I come up with involving wrap dresses. I'm onto my 8th wrap dress and I'm here to tell you that wrap dresses are LIFE CHANGING. As I've said before wrap dresses are more than a dress. They're a symbol of empowerment, feminism, innovation, and a testament to the incredible works DVF has achieved over the course of her career. Don't believe me? DVF was recently featured in an in the National Portrait Gallery at the SAAM for creating the iconic wrap dress 40 years ago. In one of her interviews on the wrap dress' legacy she said, "I created it, but then it had a life of its own. It gave me my freedom, but it also gave freedom and happiness to a lot of other women."

I've been trying to complete the color rainbow in my dress collection lately. Besides yellow, green has been the hardest to find. I had been inspired by this picture of Audrey Hepburn promoting the film Funny Face (which is arguably the best AH film if you ask me). Tippi Hendren's green suit in the Birds is also another close source of inspiration. Nevertheless, finding a green dress of that caliber and one that could function for work events, weddings, and life wasn't an easy task.

A hot minute ago I received this fun package in the mail. At first I was confused. Was it one of those scary protein powders my brother buys from GNC? No! It was an adorable package from Pixi Beauty! So cute it was even prepared/prescribed for me!

Ah red nail polish. A love of mine that can never be tarnished. Like coffee and Vogue. Bright red, orangey-red, brick red, you name it I have a shade of it. What's funny is that O.P.I is known for their red nail polishes, yet I didn't choose one that is "iconic" like Big Apple Red or I'm Not Really A Waitress. Probably because those are such staple O.P.I colors and I do respect them, but there are a few other red nail polishes I have lost sleep wondering whether a salon had them.

When I was in undergrad my friends would tell me that all the clothes I bought looked the same. It was always something I thought was funny because in a way its sort of true. I tend to gravitate towards silhouettes and styles that I'm familiar with and that I know will suit my petite frame. I'd rather buy iterations of things that I would actually like then invest in trendy pieces that aren't durable.
Last summer I gave into the one shoulder trend. This style is so wearable- jeans, shorts, a nice pencil skirt! Plus its a great quality top made from natural fibers. I liked this top so much I wanted another. This red top was so beautiful with the eyelet detail. Its so versatile and such a great top for Kansas City summers! Plus I got this blouse for $10 off Poshmark!
Instead of opting for my normal "Cool Girl Summer Uniform" (going three summers strong) where I would normally wear this shirt, shorts, and Birkenstocks I paired this top with a pair of skinny jeans and wedges.
I had been eying this Gucci Belt with Crystal Dionysus Buckle since I saw Lisa Vanderpump wear it a few seasons ago in RHOBH. Don't judge! LVP has a real British Girlboss/Barbie kind of style that I just love. I had never seen this style before and it was so classy and unique. The Dionysus buckle is definitely a shift from the GG style which I wish would all just get sucked into a sinkhole. Plus the Dionysus style/buckle actually has a little myth behind it. Dionysus is said to have crossed the river Tigris on a tiger sent by Zeus.
Percy Jackson would've been proud of my purchase. Although it was on the pricier side this belt is so beautiful and ornate. I am wearing a size 75 for reference. Gucci belt sizing is tricky and honestly I wish I would've gotten a 70 or smaller? I called the Gucci store and they said you can get up to 3 holes put into the belt for $25 and if they can't do it in store (due to preserving the integrity of the belt) they send it to their factory in Jersey. I'll keep you posted. Next time I'm in DC I'm going to see if the store will add extra holes for me. What do you think of my matte red nails? Different right?

Overall I am pretty happy with this belt. I did think it was funny that in Killing Eve Villanelle wore this belt. #STYLEGOALS

I think this has been the best week I've had in a long time. Since I technically had school last week on my cruise this is my week off and it has been GLORIOUS. I've spent so much time reading, catching up on TV, spending time with my friends, going to Sephora (PSA VIB/Rouge sale is happening rn), and I even went to a Gilmore Girls trivia night with some friends yesterday! This week has really made me feel so grateful for all of the people in my life. You keep me going through this rough patch and I can't thank you enough. Your company and friendship means so much to me.

In other news, start my last semester of graduate schools (Where has time gone?!) next week. I am excited and nervous. I take 3 more classes and then I'm done! So I'm not sure what the blog will be like during that time, but working on the blog so vigorously this week has been such a joy so I feel like there will still be more to come as always.

Here's a fun fact about me, I've always wanted to visit Alaska! Ever since I read Into the Wild it has always been a dream of mine to see Alaska. Sometime ago my mom asked me if I was interested in going on an Alaskan cruise with my extended family. To be completely honest at first I said no because of my summer classes. My summer classes ran all the way through the week of our cruise and I had no idea whether I would finish all my coursework. However, with a lot of planning I managed to get it all done. As promised here is my photo diary!

Hi friends! With the Kansas City heat being a million degrees my ideal makeup routine is just sunscreen and moisturizer. Honestly Coola's Mineral Sun Silk Organic Sunscreen is everything I swear. Nevertheless, in true Chanel fashion my beauty routine is followed by a few other products and then I somehow have a full face on. How did that happen? Here's a few beauty products I'm excited about right now!

Skyn Iceland Oxygen Infusion Night Cream
I've always been pretty serious about moisturizer but this night cream takes some of the edge off. I love this hilarious but spot on packaging. Plus this creamy smooth night cream isn't too shabby either. I feel like this is one of those creams that not only feels luxurious but also does its job. I wake up in the morning and my skin looks rejuvenated and doesn't feel the slightest bit dry.

I've needed eye cream for so long and I love this little Skyn Iceland tube. The applicator gives you just enough product when you turn the cap so you can kind of portion out how much you really need. I have a tendency to go kind of nuts with eye cream. I have a kinda love hate relationship with the pen but I definitely like that its more travel friendly.

This is seriously my favorite KVD shade its so stinking pretty. Its a cool berry inspired by the lip shade that Miss Argentina in Beetlejuice wore?!

When I found this ELL at Marshalls for half the price I nearly screamed!
As a RHOBH fan this palette was a must! It's inspired by the Housewives star and pop-star Erika Jayne. I was a little nervous about all the pinks and glitter but this palette is so versatile! Plus the browns remind me of old OG KVD palettes which is actually pretty hard. I have really been loving this palette tbh.

Besides these beauty faves I'm also loving Guava White Tea Lemonades from Starbucks, SUITS SEASON 9?! with the return of Patrick J. Adams, and Pearson the new Suits spin-off. I am also loving that I almost finished with summer classes! I am going on vacation with my family next week and am actually planning on doing a post. Stay golden friends!

I received these products courtesy of Skyn Iceland. All opinions are always my own.

Orange is a color that I've wanted to add to my wardrobe for a long time and now its finally having a moment. It seems like so many fashion designers had orange/turmeric-y inspired dresses, shorts, jackets, etc. in their S/S collections. I love how much warmth this color brings into my life.

If you know me, you know how obsessed I am with green beauty. Ren Clean Skincare happens to be one of those brands I adore. Their goal of zero waste by 2021, 100% recyclable packaging, and goal to clean up the ocean and beaches is something every beauty company should aspire to recreate! I've tried a few products from Ren's Evercalm line (re-read the post here), but have never actually tried any of their body products. So when they sent me a few products I was game!

Pixi Beauty is not a new brand to me although to be completely honest the only product I've tried from them over the years was a lipstick. I am still very familiar with their light green and pink packaging I've eyed at Target over the years. Created by Petra Strand, Pixi is all about a radiant "good night's sleep" look. These days that's all I really yearn for.

Lately I feel like this crazy, beautiful life has kept me busy to say the least. I feel like I didn't realize how busy things were until my best friend tried to plan something with me 2 weeks in advance and I already had prior obligations. That's the way things have been for at least the past month and a half. Work, school, and the weekend is filled up with all sorts of activities. I've been lucky to squeeze in a tennis match in honestly. When the City of Independence reached out to me for an influencer visit I was shocked when I looked at my calendar and I didn't have anything going on. I was ecstatic. A stay-cation away from class and work to head to Independence, MO (only 35 min from me) was exactly what I needed.

Before I left for undergrad I asked my hairdresser Alex to give me a new look. We decided to go with a more cohesive and straightforward look with one set length and a middle part. Since then my hair care routine has become much more manageable and it has been easier to tame my wild mane. As someone who works full time and goes to school my hair care routine is still constantly changing. Here are a few products I'm using to take care of my hair right now.

I was at a work event the other day and stumbled onto a couch filled with vintage handbags. It was amazing how quickly I picked up this handbag and decided that it needed to be mine. I don't really find things when I go shopping that I like (sans everything at Anthropologie/J. Crew) and rarely buy them instantly. I almost forgot what retail therapy felt like. I tend to just buy a burrito from Taco Bell and relish my meal.

Seasons 52 invited me to visit their restaurant to try out their new Hello Spring menu. What I found interesting about Seasons 52 is that their menu changes with the seasons and they pour 52 world-class wines (and yes they serve cappuccinos too). Surprisingly, I had never been to Seasons 52 before although I have solicited in front of their lovely tulips on the Country Cub Plaza on several occasions.

Fun fact: I LOVE Gilmore Girls. Or as I normally say Gilmore Girls is my entire life. I've seen every episode at least 20+ times, and I'm not afraid to say it. I started watching the show in seventh grade after I'd get home from school. I even got my best friend to love it, and ever since then it has become a part of my life. Once when I was working at Starbucks someone told me I should be on Gilmore Girls. Probably the best compliment I've ever received.

My friend Xochi and her husband Chris recently created a candle company called Inés Co. Their mission is to create a better world through their eco-friendly products. In addition they create candles with the environment on the forefront of their minds. Its so exciting to see my friends creating conscious candles. I wholeheartedly support their mission of creating sustainable candles made with love for a better world.

In addition they create candles with the environment on the forefront of their minds. Its so exciting to see my friends creating conscious candles. I wholeheartedly support their mission of creating sustainable candles made with love for a better world.
As long as I can remember John Hughes movies have been my entire life. Some Kind of Wonderful. Breakfast Club. Sixteen Candles. Say Anything. Ferris Bueller's Day Off.  I've seen them all but my favorite has got to be Pretty in Pink. Molly Ringwald's performance is so authentic and cute its hard to imagine anyone else playing the lead role. Fun fact Molly Ringwald's favorite song at the time was Pretty in Pink by the Psychadeilc Furs and she asked John Hughes to write a movie based on it.

Sometimes I feel like a bad blogger because it takes me so long to try products and then to formulate reviews. Moroccan Oil has been so good to me sending me so many goodies I feel like I finally have some solid opinions to share. Before MOROCCANOIL I had no idea what it was. I have long, oily hair, with unruly ends so I wasn't sure what MO was going to do for me. Plus I have been really trying to cut down the amount of times I wash my hair a week to 3, but sometimes I'll use cleansing conditioner and give my hair that fourth wash.

I've always been fascinated by trèStiQue, a brand that creates simple, sleek, and portable makeup with lots of multi-functional, 2-in-1 products combining color and applicator in one. Their products lingering in my Sephora wishlist for ages now. I was so excited when trèStiQue sent me some of their goodies!

As I have been trying to become more environmentally conscious about my beauty routine 2-in-1 products are everything. Check out my post here about how to green your beauty routine. I love that trèStiQue's product are refillable so I don't have to constantly recycle packaging. Their products are also super travel friendly, they  have magnetic caps so everything stays put. If only I didn't pack 5 eye shadow palettes for 3 days... than my entire makeup routine with trèStiQue could fit into a coffee cup. However, I'm me so I don't think I could ever fit my whole makeup routine into a coffee cup. It'd make a good blog post though!

This cream-gel blush and bronzer has a built-in brush! It applies very naturally and looks flattering on all fair, medium, and dark skin tones. I'm not a huge blush gal so I don't think I'd repurchase this product. This cheek stick would be perfect for any blush lover though!

This cream-gel highlighter with a built-in sponge brightens your features with subtle
shimmer —no glitter, no sparkle. This is definitely a more subtle highlighter since there's no glitter or sparkle, if you're looking for a highlighter that's less Real Housewife. I kind of miss the glitter but this highlighter still does a great job accentuating your cheekbones.

This is a two-in-one lip duo with a matte lip crayon and shiny moisturizing balm. I actually really love this idea. You get the pigment from the matte lip color and can line your lips and just fill in the rest with the lip balm or wear the matte lip crayon on its own. Both sides are very vibrant and aren't heavy. The lip balm has an ultra-moisturizing BB balm that preps lips for color or adds a shiny finish. I wasn't sure how I felt about this lip crayon but it's super smart. For me having the lip balm is genius because I'm always putting on Chapstick. Such an innovative product!

Overall I am really into trèStiQue's products! I love that you can just buy refills instead of having to repurchase the entire product. I want to check out their concealer next. What do you guys think? Have you ever tried anything from trèStiQue?

How great are these shots?! Photos by my new friend Brooke Billings, give her a follow on Instagram!

It has officially been a year on my journey of getting back together with Stylebook. You might remember this post I wrote last April about how I rediscovered this application. Since then this app has taught me so much about my wardrobe and my personal style. It has helped me become more truthful and honest with not only my style but my wallet.

Back in the day I was a self-proclaimed mall rat. I used to scour Sephora and try every Urban Decay product I could see. The pink heavy metal eyeliner and hot pink eye shadow was my go to. Although I don't spend as many days trying on Sephora products and eating Auntie Annie's pretzels I still love trying Urban Decay products. Here's my review on a few products they sent me recently.

I'm not sure when I became obsessed with red dresses. Within the past year red has been one of the fastest growing colors in my wardrobe. Red takes about 8% of my closet. Not as big as black, white, or blue but getting there! I blame Jackie O. for part of my red dress obsession. She knew how to wear red so well. Whether it be a two piece evening suit or a sleeveless dress. Jackie has become one of my biggest style inspirations. Now I tend to opt for solid colors and styles I can wear frequently. I still need a leather jacket usually but I run cold.

Hello friends! I am finally back on the blog! This post is one I truly never saw coming. When I think of Uggs it's hard not to just think of the Simple Life. I think my mind started changing when I saw Rachel Zoe style Uggs back in 2015. If one person can change my mind its certainly her. I first saw this style of Uggs in the library during my undergrad. A student was wearing them  (very stylishly I might add) and my mind started turning. The quintessential question as always where do I get these?

I Bought a Pair of Uggs

Hi beautiful people! We had a winter storm advisory this past week with an estimate of up to 8 in. of snow (which was what we got last weekend). I was going to riot if I had to shovel again. There's something about being snowed in that I hate. Plus, I had been really looking forward to my plans to visit Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen to try some of their brand-new menu items with the bf, my best friend, and her boyfriend. Luckily we barely got any snow, and got to have a fantastic evening out at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. Despite all being friends for quite some time we have never gone out together. It was so nice to have some laughs and spend some quality time before I go back to school this week.
A visit to Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen isn't the same without their onion rings. For real, the first time I had these onion rings my world was forever changed. The Cajun sauce that goes with the onion rings is too good.
I had been dreaming about Cheddar's Texas-Sized Nachos all week. Nachos come in close second as my favorite food.
The Texas-Sized Nachos come with chicken or beef (chicken for me), queso, black beans, jalapenos, corn, pico, and a BBQ ranch. The salsa and queso are on the side which is nice because there is already a lot of cheese, although there can never be too much in my opinion. One thing I love about Cheddar's is that they're so accommodating when it comes to dietary restrictions. I don't feel like I have to worry unlike other restaurants.
{All smiles for this huge plate of nachos}
With this freezing weather a crispy chicken tender noodle soup is a necessity. A good cup of chicken noodle soup is always my kind of pick me up. This soup comes in a larger size in case you really need to warm up.
You can't finish off a meal without dessert. Dessert is my favorite meal/food/lifestyle. When it comes to choosing dessert the decision is never easy for me. We went with the apple crisp a la mode. Delicious! Apple crisp always needs ice cream in my opinion.
My friends shared the Cheddar's hot fudge cake, and yes it is always this size?! I've had this cake before and it is such a treat. I love that most of Cheddar's desserts come with ice cream.

All in all I definitely suggest a trip to Cheddar's. The warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and home-style food is worth the splurge. Oh and this giant slice of cake is only $5.79 so don't forget affordable too!
