Last week I was on vacation with my family in New York! My time with the city that doesn't sleep was short, (we spent only a week we usually spend 2) but it was packed with so much. My family and I spent some time in the Poconos, went on a waterfall trail, did some superb shopping, went bowling, went to a casino, and I even had time to do some fat henna! (See below) I told you, we did a lot! I'm really thankful that we decided to go back home this year =') I hope all of you got to take some time off for vacation!
I can't believe that this is going to be the last of my summer shoots with my dear friend Katie. Katie goes to the University of Michigan where she kicks major ass as a Style Guru for College Fashionista. It breaks my heart that I won't be seeing her til' Christmas time. ='( Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder though!
While shopping in New York I found this beautiful cream skirt at Forever 21 and couldn't believe my eyes. The intricacy and quality of the skirt was incredible. It looked like something out of a Free People catalog instead of Forever 21. Although I have something similar to this skirt I felt like it would be wearable throughout the seasons. Plus it was just too beautiful. I paired it with a simpler tank (stolen from my mothers closet), and to get the fall vibes going tied a flannel around my waist for a little bit of a twist. I think that this skirt can easily be worn up or down depending on whether you want to showcase it or not. My birkenstocks have been doing some major work this summer I'm sad to have to put them away. Lastly, my nails are my one last hoorah for summer, I'm wearing I Just Can't CopeA-Cabana by OPI. See you soon!

Back in May I received an e-mail from a lovely lady named Shona who invited me to write a piece amongst other fashion bloggers about my take on a specific spring/summer trend for CHICSHA the Magazine.
My trend was lace (fringe & frills) and I personally changed my outfits with accessory tweaks rather than finding every lace piece in my closet to exemplify the trend. I believe that you should fill your closet with a few great pieces and learn how to put them to work rather than just fueling trends! Because let's be honest here, how long do you think that trend will last? Or work for your body? Or last throughout seasons?! Did I get you there? I think the third issue of this online magazine is incredible and I am excited to see what other fabulous things CHICSHA will do!
Below I shared some photos that were not featured, taken by my wonderful friend Katherine Campbell. Read the issue here!
