& the crop top

Recently I've been reading Living in Style by one of my biggest sources of inspiration, Rachel Zoe. Rachel got me thinking about my own personal style. She loosely uses the term "highly allergic" to refer to anything that someone doesn't particularly like style-wise in reference to a color or silhouette.

I've been highly allergic to crop tops, and I can't really explain why.  I think they can be done tastefully, but I think I'm just scared of showing my midriff. Despite being a skinny girl I've always been self conscious of my stomach, and although I've become stiffer about hopping on to new trends, my fear has been one of the reasons as to why I've never adopted this particular trend.

Rachel says, "Fashion should be thrilling and unpredictable and fun." & "Once you have found your fashion comfort zone, take a risk." I've been playing it safe lately, and buying this top was definitely risky for me (even with this skirt). I even bought a crop top with strawberries on it! Many of my loved ones know I have an obsession with fruit prints.

So I'm accepting Rachel's dare ("And be sure to take a risk every now and again. Go ahead I dare you.") and, taking a risk with this crop top and maybe a couple more, who knows? I paired this Urban Outfitters crop top with this beautiful, Carrie Bradshaw-esque Bloom Skirt from Shabby Apple.

What are you allergic to? Photos by Liz. <3
