Thank U Next, 2019

December 22, 2019

2019 was a challenging year for me. I said goodbye to relationships that were no longer bringing me joy. Cried a lot. Started anew. GRADUATED with my Master's Degree in Business Administration, yo! Asked for help. Practiced yoga for the first time in almost 2 years. Spent the most time in a long time with my friends. Pushed myself out of my comfort zone. Sparked joy.

2019 was rough. There were peaks and valleys. Saying goodbye to relationships that no longer brought me joy was difficult. A quote from one of my favorite shows Bojack Horseman really rang true to me. "You know, it's funny; when you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags." Despite how hard it was to say goodbye to these relationships I'm glad that everything that happened, happened (thus the TYN title again this year). Ultimately, I learned that everything can fall apart but better things can come together.

I read 10 books, brought my reusable mug to Starbucks as much as I could, saw new horizons, studied my French often, was easier on myself, practiced yoga, considered sustainability with my purchases, got more manicures, and tried to welcome everyday with gratitude.
I feel like now that I have this Master's degree under my belt I can finally breathe. I'm excited for this new decade. I can now fully dedicate myself to planning my best friend's wedding and I can travel (with PTO?!). In 2020 I would like to read 25 books, buy only 20 wardrobe items, exercise, and volunteer more. The world is my pizza and the heart of life is good.
My co-worker took this video of me and I just had to share it. Here's to a new decade friends and emulating this joy in 2k20!

  24. Happy New Year Chanel! I hope 2020 is bigger and better for you. I agree 2019 had its highs and lows. I'm hoping to read more this year as I only read 4 books last year which isn't great haha! I also become a convert to the reusable Starbucks mug. Onwards and upwards! xx
