marchesa notte
Twenty-something girls vs. thirty-something women, it's a concept and an episode of Sex and the City that's been on my mind these past couple of years. But only recently, as I've been transitioning to a new decade, has the meaning behind that episode really sunk in. My twenties started off innocuously. I had a few hiccups, but by 25, I had a full-blown quarter-life crisis during COVID. So, I had written my twenties off as the worst. I experienced the most self-doubt, insecurity, and debilitating uncertainty in myself between the ages of 25-27. Getting out of that headspace required a lot of help, from doctors, friends, family, coworkers, and grace that I needed to extend to myself.

Last spring I got an invitation in the mail from my best friend/sister to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. I started bawling in my kitchen. This was the first time I have been asked to be someone's bridesmaid! Seeing someone I love so much get married to the love of her life is one of those moments that you feel so grateful and lucky to be apart of. My sister is the coolest person ever because she told her bridesmaids that we could pick out our own dresses because she wanted us to be able to wear them again. Her only guiding advice was that our dresses be around the shade of a blue orchid.

When I was visiting D.C. back in August I stopped by a Saks Off Fifth. I'm pretty sure I let out a gasp when I saw this Marchesa Notte embroidered short sleeve cocktail dress on the rack...in my size...75% off. I was dead. My love for Marchesa is endless. All of their designs speak to me without words transcending their sheer beauty and elegance. If I could go back to all the important moments in my now twenty something life that needed a dress I would've worn this one, but I have it now and that's what's important.
