I'm back on the blog to talk about this dress, which quite frankly was an impulse buy...and yes, even I am susceptible to from time to time.

So here goes the story... Every so often (actually once a week, if I'm being truthful), I'll do a deep dive of a designer's catalog on The Real Real, sometimes even looking at items that have been sold. It’s not the best habit, but it's one that keeps me sharp because it makes me prepared to sweep up gems like this DVF Gia scarf dress when I see them.

I found this beauty on The RealReal for $95?!?! back in November (it originally retailed for $598) while watching Confessions of a Shopaholic. My fiancé would say perhaps there was a correlation between that purchase and the film, but truthfully, the look-to-purchase pipeline is low for me.

Many of my friends know I'm incredibly disciplined when it comes to shopping. I would rather spend money on something I am going to adore, keep, and commit to repairing than a bunch of things I just like, and that agreement is pretty much a through-line for most shopping categories. So, something has to be at the "I LOVE this" level to get it. Which was, honestly, my initial impression when I saw this dress!
It's three oversized silk scarves that are sewn together. The colors are so fun and vibrant. This dress speaks for itself. In the symphony of my wardrobe it is a conductor piece that opens commands the ensemble's attention, establishes the tempo of my shoes and accessories, and cues the first vibrant note.

I know impulse shopping is hard to curb, especially in this economy where a little treat really does go a long way. Perhaps, a post to come on that, but my general rule is to wait. Sit on it. For at least a day! 48 hours is better. Here's a Substack post that actually has some great responses and ideas if you're struggling with impulse shopping.

Besides that... It's finally summer! Seems like every weekend there's a Gemini or a Cancer to celebrate. I've been going to birthday parties, spending time with friends, seeing movies, listening to No Hard Feelings (Deluxe), loving all the indie horror movies that have come out lately, repairing my clothes, reading thrillers and playing Overwatch. I bought my wedding dress!

Typically I am usually transfixed by the changing of the seasons, but my new role has rewritten my days, making life itself feel like summer. I am so grateful. To not feel the same way I was feeling last summer, and that no matter how much I convince myself otherwise the only constant in life is change.
Thanks to JL for taking these photos <3
