Greetings Loved Ones!
Dear Mme. Sayers as I call her (Shea) from Bon Chic Bon Gastronomique inspired me to do a "currently" post. If you ever wonder what I am doing during my long durations of disappearance here you go!Reading: I just finished Rainbow Rowell's Eleanor and Park. I loved almost every single moment of it, and felt just about every emotion while reading this. I don't wanna ruin anything for you, but if you're looking for something new to read, well this is it! I also have been reading David Levithan's the Lover's Dictionary. It is a compilation of stories and words all describing the crazy aspects of love.
Listening to: Oh my goodness, I cannot stop listening to Iggy Azalea's the New Classic. Let me tell you, it is classic. I can't stop humming little bits from each song! My favourite tracks have to be: Don't Need Y'all, 100 feat. Watch The Duck, Impossible is Nothing, and Black Widow feat. Rita Ora
Watching: Devious Maids. While most of my favourite shows (cough, Suits) are on break until summer I finally got around to watching Devious Maids. Turns out the drama and the cast drive me crazy, in the best way possible! The second season just started and I am beyond ecstatic.
Coveting: I have really started admiring the birkenstock trend. The only problem is the only ones I want are specifically $255 Rachel Zoe's Fawn Two Band Sandals. What differentiates them from other birkenstocks is the metallic foil that covers the natural cork. Ultimately, the metallic foil draws me to these birkenstocks compared to others.
What else is new?
Well I will be done with my first year at university in just about three weeks! JMC has some exciting collaborations coming up too and I will finally be reunited with Katie from Katherine Campbell Photography. Speaking of, go check out her portfolio thus far. Katie and I are planning on doing one shoot a week, and I'd like to start "Life-talks with Katie" where we cover a new topic for a life-talk every shoot!
Also, I have a Starbucks barista job lined up! To keep the good vibes going, my future roommate Whitney and I also signed a lease for an apartment next year. Really exciting stuff y'all. =') Cannot wait for the summer so I can really start blogging more frequently again.
Cheesin' with my satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Co. I got for my birthday ^_^ *My roommates top!
Second pedicure of all time, how am I doing?

Today has been such a beautiful day! I cannot believe it's already April? 2014 is flying by so fast. Guess who is celebrating her 19th birthday with butterscotch-chocolate chip scones (hopefully) next Wednesday? This chick! I've only asked for a few things like: Downtown by Calvin Klein, a Satchel from the Satchel Co, and Suits season 1 & 2.
In other news, I finally did some shopping these past couple weeks and had to share. Right after spring break my roommate told me about this gnarly thing Modcloth had going on called, "Stylish Surprise." Essentially you pay $10, choose a size, and they send you a garment ranging from $30-$300. Pretty good deal, huh? I got a dress which I am wearing as a skirt called Frost & Foremost by Minuet. I do love Modcloth's uniquely named items, it always makes me smile. The dress was originally $75 and I got it for $10! Though it looks a tad awkward on me and certainly isn't a "Chanel" dress I like that its springy and can be layered with a piece on top. There was also this great clothing sale at my university and I found a $150 Free People dress for $25! This sweater I am wearing was only a dollar as well! My clutch is c/o TrendyBlendy. It's called Seal the Deal in Teal Purse I really love it because of the versatility and because it can hold so much. I can pretty much shove everything into it and if I do get sick of using it as a clutch I can turn it into a purse with cords inside. Its gorgeous colour is enough to make anyone fall in love with it.
I am wearing: American Eagle sweater, Frost & Foremost dress from Modcloth, Love Culture flats (details), Seal the Deal in Teal Purse c/o TrendyBlendy, Necklace from Forever 21, Rings from H&M, and my nail polish is Merry Mermaid by NailUV

I've been in a serious shopping slump lately, can anyone out there help me? Over spring break I managed to snag a few keepers but I've become pickier and pickier when it comes to shopping and my personal style. A quote caught my eye while reading In Style,
"I've vowed to stop collecting trendy pieces just because they're 'in'. At this point, I'm very sure of my style, and I know what works on me and what doesn't. So I'm going to focus on looking for new tweaks..."
I never felt more akin to a sentence, honestly. So by pledging to stop buying trendy pieces has certainly made it hard for me to shop. It's definitely a learning and growing experience. I've been reading and reading and reading this seasons trends and for some reason I haven't found something that really catches my eye minus metallics (which is too trendy). I'm trying out the blush trend though! Thoughts? Since blush isn't really my favourite colour I decided to make it a little more masculine by wearing all black with the rest of my outfit. Still as feminine but more me. While thrifting over spring break I found this gnarly faux leather button up. It's a size medium but I cannot wait to keep grungin' it up with layers.
I am wearing: Shirt - J.Crew, Leather collared shirt - thrifted, jeans - PacSun, shoes - Target, sunglasses - Ray-Bans.

This lovely piece of artwork was done by Lena Komarova. Lena is only 12 years and a blogger form Kazakhstan. She is so incredibly talented, and guess what! She did some artwork for JMC! I discovered Elena Komarova quite some time ago because she always illustrates one of my favourite bloggers, Song of Style. The thing I love the most about her artwork is that she's so meticulous, she gets all the details, and leaves her own personal mark on every piece of artwork. Please check out Lena's Instagram feed, and blog. You won't regret it!

I hate, hate, hate chipped nail polish. If there is one
thing I cannot stand on myself and others it’s chipped nails. I totally get it. Not all
of us have a personal manicurist on hand and in a society so demanding chipped
nails are inevitable, right? I’d like to think I’m one of the women who tries
to avoid this tragedy at all costs. Last July, I started doing my own gel nails
and I’ve never looked back. I still remember the first time I got Shellac done at a
salon my junior year of high school, I HATED IT. My French was too thin, and it started chipping within a
week. I’m pretty sure that was the first time the lady had done it as well. Also,
taking gel nails off can be the biggest pain but I’ve learned some tricks here
or there. LED lamps are life changing, honestly. No chips, your nails (may or may not grow stronger and longer), and your finger nails look nice all the time.
Last time I saw my high school French teacher she was wearing this
amazing shade of polish. I fell for it instantly and prayed it came in gel. It's called Peace & Love & OPI.
My picture doesn't do a justice whatsoever but its a duochrome from OPI that
shifts from blue to purple. I knew I had to have it. Despite
the $16.50 price tag, it was worth every penny. Plus it’ll last 2+ weeks
without chipping! I'm obsessed. Tell me your thoughts on gel nail polish! Why
or why not?
