One Shoulder Drama

May 6, 2018

Initially I had a hard time with the the one shoulder trend. There were so many variations of tops it was so overwhelming. Most tops had way too many ruffles for my taste or too long of a sleeve/sleeves to be practical for the Kansas heat. While I was browsing eBay's copious amount of J. Crew resale I stumbled on this blouse and for $17- new with tags it was hard to say no.

I've been looking to add more yellow into my wardrobe and I finally decided to give into this one shoulder top trend. Mostly because I love this top, its great quality, and the style is very wearable. I can wear it with shorts or any type of jeans!

Speaking of these jeans you might have seen them before on the blog, like here. They are my favorite pair! I found them at a thrift store and since then I've been obsessed. They are super worn out because I've worn them down. So worn down that holes are going to happen soon =( I had been looking for the same pair under $50 which was seemingly impossible when I finally found the same pair on Vinted for $14 which I am so psyched about.

I think if I were to restyle this top I'd wear it with J. Crew shorts and birkenstocks. I also could wear it with wedged espadrilles. Maybe I'll be bold and try the turban trend like Carrie Bradshaw did in Sex and the City 2.

We actually shot these photos at Lenexa Public Market. Its one of the cool additions to the Lenexa City Center which includes *drumroll* A NEW PUBLIC LIBRARY! Am I the only person who gets excited about these things? Back to the Public Market inside holds restaurants, sweets, coffee, flowers, gifts, and more. I love that there is a Roasterie and a bakery! Plus a pizza/salad shop too if you wanna get crazy. There is so much room inside this place that even with a busy crowd you don't feel crammed. It'd be a great place to take family from out of town or to spice up working from home. I love that they have weekly events and cooking classes, there's a vegan Indian food class I want to attend. There's also a little Flower Market which I am obsessed with as you can see in the pictures, I just want to live in that little cooler.

In other news I'm about to start an internship that I'm really excited about in a couple weeks! I also am starting two summer classes next week so I'm not sure how active I will be able to be on the blog, but I am really going to try my best because I hate taking breaks from JMC!

Wearing: Top - J. Crew, (sold out, but similar) jeans - Rag & Bone (old, but love this one), shoes - Soludos (similar), lips - Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Driver's Seat

  4. Yellow is your color, beautiful! Looking fabulous. I was wary of the one-shoulder trend too, but it's more workable than you think, right? PS: The Sexy and the City 2 reference - I just finished watching the entire show and movies, so I knew just what you were referring to ;)

  11. This is such a beautiful colour on you Sonia! I know what you mean about not wanting something with ruffles - I'd be exactly the same. You've definitely found a keeper though - such a great transition into summer, especially when the weather might not be so sunny!

  18. Oh I need to go check out that area in Lenexa, it sounds awesome. And you know I get excited about a new library too! :) I love that fun one-shoulder top, that's a trend I haven't really tried either just because of the impracticality. It's so cute though! And those shoes, you know I love those!

  20. I don't want no drama in my life - unless it looks like that!! I'm so not over dramatic sleeves and necklines, and the one shoulder ruffle look is just perfect!
