Stylebook For Days

September 25, 2018

Hi friends! You might have remembered my post about Stylebook from April. Back when I first started using this app it was to learn more about my style and how I can shop better in general. After using it for a few more months I figured I would post a update/my thoughts. Here it is!

One of the features of this application is a calendar to log your outfits. At first I didn't use this feature very often, but as I started working in an office environment where I had to dress professionally everyday I started using this feature more. So frequently that I relied pretty heavily on this app.

So here are my musings after planning outfits for 3 months (in no particular order)
  • I'm starting to understand why Zuck wears his uniform because taking the time to plan outfits can be tedious, but clearly he didn't have this app.
  • I think its impossible not to wish that you had more clothes no matter how organized/competent your wardrobe is. However, I do find that playing around with clothes in my closet is a fun way to relax at the end of the night.
  • I find that when I buy new items or consider buying new items I am really thinking about/considering what is in my closet and how it will work for the long haul. This is something I have done for the most part during my last couple years of undergrad, but now even more so with this app.
  • Cost per wear is a game changer, but I still buy primarily based on fiber quality/designer. Cost per wear is an after thought if I know I'm going to wear it a lot.
  • I say I'm not afraid of being an outfit repeater but in the office sometimes I do care, but its impractical and wasteful to romanticize a new outfit everyday.
  • I find myself using this app to play with my clothes rather than hopelessly looking in my closet pre-coffee in the morning as I normally would. However, I struggle with making looks for the whole week at once in addition to logging them.
  • I can't help but wonder would Carrie Bradshaw find this app helpful or oppressive?
I want to mention that I don't always post my outfits. Somedays I wear cut offs and dress like Tobias Funke and leave the house for a Taco Bell break from international business. It kinda throws off my calendar vibe, but I'm okay with it.

Here's my July! I think my favorite outfit was the Free People dress I wore on the 28th. One of my favorite pieces I don't wear it ENOUGH. You might remember it from this post. I did bring out a couple of my luxury items out my closet this month which was impressive.
My favorite outfit this month was the matching berry top and skirt I wore on the 21st. Doing better this month bringing my CPW down on my Brixton loafers which I got from Saks on sale! They are $26.50 per wear currently. Hoping to bring that down to some of my cheapest CPW which are between $1-$4.

What do you think friends, would you use Stylebook? What do you think of my chronic outfit repeating nature? Hope everyone is enjoying this last week of September. Cannot believe that October will be here so soon!

  4. Love that apps like these exist especially when you have a busy schedule and don't have much time to think about what to wear next.
