The Mean Reds

February 10, 2019

I'm not sure when I became obsessed with red dresses. Within the past year red has been one of the fastest growing colors in my wardrobe. Red takes about 8% of my closet. Not as big as black, white, or blue but getting there! I blame Jackie O. for part of my red dress obsession. She knew how to wear red so well. Whether it be a two piece evening suit or a sleeveless dress. Jackie has become one of my biggest style inspirations. Now I tend to opt for solid colors and styles I can wear frequently. I still need a leather jacket usually but I run cold.

I had been eyeing this Hanna Racerback Dress for a long time. Its an older Anthropologie style that once retailed for $228, but I found it online wait for it... $28! Crazy how time can change the price of clothes. Initially I bought this dress with the hopes of wearing it for Christmas. Not sure why I thought this dress would be good for a Kansas City Christmas considering its usually Mr. Fries weather, but it was a good investment. If it wasn't so damn cold in KC I'd wear it this weekend.
I've never found a dress with a back that spoke to me like this one. I think its both a blessing and a curse. Its hard to find the right occasion to wear this dress since its not necessarily work appropriate or ideal for Christmas time, but I could definitely plan a date around this dress. In my opinion that's how you should do it, right?
I love pairing this dress with a great pair of heels. One of my favorite pairs is from the Altuzarra x Target collection.
My makeup is definitely Valentine's Day inspired. I love finding eye shadow looks on Instagram. There are so many for the Modern Renaissance palette. I used this IG post as my guide.
So who knows what'll happen with me and red, but there's definitely more headed to the blog. I have a romantic night of business ethics planned for Valentine's Day. I hope everyone has a beautiful Valentine's Day! I'm looking forward to the weekend though. Grabbing coffee with an old friend on Friday. Plus, I'm going to the Nelson to see the new Napoleon exhibit and grabbing Indian food. What are you upto?!
