Pretty in Pink

April 7, 2019

As long as I can remember John Hughes movies have been my entire life. Some Kind of Wonderful. Breakfast Club. Sixteen Candles. Say Anything. Ferris Bueller's Day Off.  I've seen them all but my favorite has got to be Pretty in Pink. Molly Ringwald's performance is so authentic and cute its hard to imagine anyone else playing the lead role. Fun fact Molly Ringwald's favorite song at the time was Pretty in Pink by the Psychadeilc Furs and she asked John Hughes to write a movie based on it.
I found this dress at Anthropologie ages ago, but wasn't sure if "Pretty in Pink" was my look. I was always more Iona than Andie, but Andie at heart I suppose. I'm a Blane over Duckie kinda gal every time.
This post has some great highlights from the movie.

It wasn't until I found the dress on Poshmark for $25 (originally retailing for $178) that I started thinking Pretty in Pink could be my look.
It was pretty hard to say no especially to the beautiful lace detail. Its a little longer and more formal than I thought but its never a bad thing to have options.
I recently met Brooke and she helped bring my Pretty in Pink x greenhouse dreams come true. We had a fun time checking out Family Tree Nursery's Shawnee location.
Check out her Instagram page and give her a follow!
I think with a leather jacket I'm able to embrace my inner Andie without being too much!
What do you guys think of my green nails? I really wanted to get them done over spring break and wanted to get a light yellow or light green. Spring seems as if its appearing in KC after getting my nails done so you're welcome!

If I were to style this dress a different way I might try a full on Pretty in Pink look. Ditch the leather jacket, add a wicker bag and a pair of espadrilles. Maybe a mismatched pair of Betsey Johnson earrings too!
These past 8 weeks have been a whirlwind (as usual, but more intense). I finished my business ethics class a couple of weeks ago turning in a 30 page paper, and just been absorbing all of the information. I also went on a road trip over spring break to Arizona. It was fun and a different experience! I read some Nancy Drew's on the drive and got to catch up on Real Housewives. I have been busy with my new class, trying to take as many walks as I can, and shooting new content for the blog. Stay tuned! Lots of new things coming your way.

  3. Pretty in Pink is one of my fave movies ever. I love Molly Ringwald in this too. And I feel like you're outfit is a modern day version of hers, definitely. If it were to be filmed today she'd totally rock something uber feminine with a little edge.
