Heart to Heart

June 30, 2019

I start so many stories about how I walk past J. Crew and my life just changes. I still feel like every time I pass by or walk into J. Crew its a scene straight out of Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Initially this  a-line midi shirt dress was so out of my budget, and I wasn't really psyched about the price for the dress being made out of polyester. Somehow I managed to find this dress for $33 on eBay NWT! It originally retailed for $138 so I was pretty pleased with myself!
I always love a piece that makes me think and pushes me a bit out of of my style comfort zone. This dress was equal bits interesting and vintage. The red and blue heart print for summer is not really ground breaking for J. Crew they had a similar style last January but I like the bigger and more defined hearts on this dress. This dress reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw's more vintage looks. Plus, the belt which is somewhat camouflaged is removable! You can make the dress super fitted or loose and free.

I really love the vintage but modernness of this dress. Its one of the things I love the most about J. Crew. I know this print seems busy but it (and many other feminine dresses) can be styled in few ways. Looking for a more edgy look, pair it with a leather jacket and ankle boots. Casual? Try a denim jacket and a pair of Vans! Want to embrace your inner Audrey in Roman Holiday? Add a neckerchief and a wicker basket. Maybe even some of those 90s skinny sunglasses! I actually quite like the ones that are tiny. They're so funny!
All smiles because I found the Kat Von D 10th Anniversary Studded Kiss Crème Lipstick in Santa Sangre for $8 at Marshalls when I was in D.C. I love this shade of red!

Aside from being obsessed with this dress I have been taking a summer class that surprisingly hasn't taken up all of my time. I made a challenging decision to not take two classes at once this summer which means I forego a month of summer break for a mere week. Honestly taking two classes last summer was very stressful and I'm glad that I am spacing the classes out. I'm learning so much in my consumer behavior class and my strategic management class I just started is fascinating.
I haven't been posting as frequently as I'd like to. To be completely honest I have been dealing with some big changes in my life and I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to discuss them on JMC. Its funny how a photo can really say exactly how you feel. I'm re-learning a hard lesson that when people want to leave, hold the door open for them. This rough patch has taught me a lot about friendship and love. I'm so grateful to every single person in my life that shows me love is a verb and not something that should be taken or said lightly. Nevertheless I'm thankful for school, the hustle of life, and my most amazing friends are keeping me busy.
As I always promise I am going to try to be more active on the blog and maybe on IG?! We'll see what happens. More coming soon! A huge thanks to my friend and talented co-worker, Kira for taking these photos of me in 90 degree KC weather while it was pouring. Check out her website, here!

  2. That dress is so cute but like you probably wouldn't pay that much for a dress. I also don't buy polyester anymore. Wish J.Crew would stop using it so much and charging us a lot for it!

  3. That is a great dress! And I can understand why you would not want to pay $138 for polyester. I am trying to stay away from polyester myself. But at that price it is just too tempting. This color looks great on you!

  6. Love this dress on you! Print is so fun and it does look like something SJP would wear while filming SATC. Particularly in that episode when she got mugged in the middle of Manhattan xx
