Orange Crush

July 9, 2019

Orange is a color that I've wanted to add to my wardrobe for a long time and now its finally having a moment. It seems like so many fashion designers had orange/turmeric-y inspired dresses, shorts, jackets, etc. in their S/S collections. I love how much warmth this color brings into my life.
Finding the right dress style and shade of orange has been challenging to say the least. I found this dress at J. Crew (surprise, surprise) what seems like forever ago. I stalked it until I got it for $36 (originally retailing for $138). This is my sixth wrap dress, but hey we all have our vices right!

Always pretending I'm in La La Land.
I love wearing orange with gold and wicker. I bought these wedges off eBay for $25 for my sister's wedding. They're originally from Saks, leather, and so versatile. I think a wedge that has the espadrille feel but aren't actually jute will last a lot longer. The rattan material that is normally on espadrilles isn't too durable. Not to say that I'm not into the espadrille trend. I would die over a pair of Gucci espadrilles. You think I'm kidding.
In other things orange related I surprisingly have really been enjoying Orange Vanilla Cokes (more vanilla than orange if you ask me) + what do you think of the whole Kendall Jenner Orange Vanilla Coke fiasco? I definitely think its an ad of some sort because its so hard for me to imagine a supermodel drinking one of those. Nevertheless I've been obsessing over Katy Perry's orange eye shadow look in Never Really Over. That track is a BOP!

This is my favorite spot in KC nestled in between the library and financial district. I wander down here often to visit one of my favorite restaurants, Banksia or to just get out of the office.
Orange pairs really well with neutrals like beige, navy, olive, and even purple if you really want to push the boundaries. A great navy clutch or pair of shoes would be the perfect addition. I definitely played up the neutrals with my shoes and purse selection.
I'm over here pouring over my strategic management textbook/wrapping up my consumer behavior class and trying not to buy every sundress I see from J. Crew/every good Poshmark deal which is actually a pretty hard task to manage. I feel like I've had such an urge to shop lately, which isn't a bad thing especially because I see myself re-wearing most of these pieces, but my closet is so small not everything fits!

How do you feel about the orange trend? What do you do when you have the urge to shop?

Wearing: Dress - J. Crew (exact), shoes - Saks 5th Avenue (old, but similar), bag - vintage (similar), nails - O.P.I I'm on a Sushi Roll

I'm lucky my kids curb my urge to shop - I just don't have as much time as I used to, haha!

Hope that your week is going well :)
