Swan Song

April 18, 2020

It seems like so much time has passed since these pictures were taken in mid-March. The world has changed so much in such a short period of time. I haven't been inspired to blog as much lately, but a friend of mine encouraged me to share my words. Plus, this dress just brings me so much joy so here I am. Many of you know I'm obsessed with swans. I'm not sure where my pension for this beautiful bird came from but anything swan related I adore. Swan mugs, swan planters, this swan mirror from Anthro I want, and of course Swans IRL.

I have wanted this Kate Spade dress for so long. When it popped up on Poshmark for $40 I bought it immediately! This dress makes me so happy. The monochromatic look, the swan print. I'm in love!

These shoes are pretty new to my wardrobe. I had been wanting a nice pair of neutral leather wedge espadrilles for life. These were a STEAL. I bought them for $31 from ThredUp brand new. A great deal considering these retail for $95. These fit well and are super comfortable. Surprisingly this was my first ThredUp purchase despite having been a ThredUp user for over 6 years.

I think everyone should have one shirtdress that makes them feel like a million dollars. That's how this dress makes me feel! Shirt dresses are so great because they are extremely versatile. You can wear them to the farmers market, a movie, or even a coffee date! Plus you can make them dressier with jewelry, belts, shoes, etc.
I know wearing a dress seems super farfetched right now, but a good shirtdress is a great piece to invest in.

For petite frames I would suggest a shorter knee-length shirtdress or a tea-length shirtdress that has a tie waist/belt. I love this look on Lily Collins.

Tall figures might consider longer shirt dresses with mid-length sleeves. Dark colors like navy, chambray, or bold prints work great for tall figures. Think Meghan Markle.

Curvy frames try a knee length/1940s shape shirt dress with sleeves. I really like Rebel Wilson in this red shirtdress.
I celebrated a stay-at-home birthday this week. It certainly was different but nevertheless a good day. I have been staying busy taking walks (I've walked over 100 miles in the past month?!), reading, cleaning/tidying, and talking to my friends and family more often. I hope you all are staying well and taking care of yourself during these crazy times. A lot of people have discussed the importance for self-care right now and I couldn't agree more. Take care, friends.

Wearing: Dress - Kate Spade (sold out, but similar),  shoes - Soludos (exact), lipstick - MAC Rebel

  1. What a cute dress! Such a good find and the print is adorable! :) I've been wearing my dresses on my weekly grocery shop - it's an easy instant outfit to take off as soon as I get home so I don't bring germs into the house, haha!

Sorry your birthday was subdued, but happy belated birthday! We have our third isolation birthday coming up in a few weeks and I think it will be a very sad celebration - my family are all feeling the distance!

Hope that you are having a nice weekend :)

  4. Happy belated birthday to you! I love that dress, what a beautiful print and hurray on such a steal too! No better feeling than finding something you'd been coveting for ages at a great price. I have to say I've always loved swans too, more so in real life. I could watch them for hours. There's such something so elegant yet mysterious about them. They are such divine beings
