Sunflower, My Eyes

September 23, 2020

It amazes me how I've lived in the Sunflower State for so long yet I've never been out to Grinter Farms. I decided to check it out a couple weekends ago and trust me when I say that the views did not disappoint. This sunflower field was one of the most beautiful things I have EVER seen. Even if you've visited the farm before seeing all these sunflowers will bring a smile to your face. If that doesn't do it there's also a great ice cream shop not far from the field!

Sometimes I think clothing can find a way to you. This dress was one that initially I thought I could live without but it found its way to me. For $10 new with tags on eBay I could not buy this Anna Sui for Target dress. Especially when it retailed for $60. Fun fact Emma Stone wore this many moons ago when Anna Sui initially dropped this 2009 Gossip Girl for Target collection.

This dress is definitely different from what I have in my closet. Its looser and not so form fitting, which is a nice transition from my normal dress collection. You can style it loose or pair it with a belt. Although I think this dress looks better without one. Since I'm so petite I'd choose a pair of wedges or heels to wear with this dress but you could also rock some sneakers. Also hello,  my seventh 20in2020 purchase!

I love the intricate lace detail on this dress so much. A very true Anna Sui detail. Plus, this velvet blue bow is everything.

I've had this hat for years. My aunt Indira bought it for me in New York some summers back and I still love it.

All smiles for strawberry cheesecake ice cream from Sylas & Maddys.

I've had a brown Cambridge Satchel on my wishlist forever. Last fall I found one in impeccable condition on Poshmark for $30. Would you believe it if I told you that this bag originally had the initials "SL" on it? I got crafty and had someone add the heart instead.

How beautiful are these sunflowers?!

Well friends, if you have the opportunity go to a sunflower field safely with your loved ones and listen to Sunflower, Vol. 6 (which I hadn't heard before I sat down to write this post but now I'm a big fan) I'd encourage you to do so. Also, please, please, please register to vote.

Photos by my talented and beautiful friend, Mallory. Happy early birthday!

  6. You never cease to amaze me with the amazing finds you snag! You know, I grew up in New York City and would you believe I didn't do nearly any of the tourist-y things, like visit the Statue of Liberty? So I can relate. I think we can get familiar with our towns and cities and not seek it out as much as we would when visiting other states. I need to look for historical and tourist-y things to do here in CT now, you're inspiring me. That said, these photos are gorgeous and I'm glad you were able to check it out! You should frame some, they really are stunning shots!

  10. Omg omg I LOVE this dress!! Anna Sui is one of my favorite designers. Her aesthetic is so me. I can not believe you found it for $10! I had been doing some research into buying designer or "designer inspired"(lol) on eBay. You inspired me to get back to it. You look great in this and the sunflower field was the perfect location.
