3 years since my last beauty post?! How is that even possible? Well, looking back, I guess it kind of makes sense. I have been actively working on slimming down my makeup, skincare, and even some of my nail polish collection. I've pretty much let go of everything I'm not using regularly. After all that downsizing, you can probably imagine that I haven't been actively adding to my collection, but as I was thinking about writing this blog post the other day, I realized that I have been adding new things here and there!
Haircare is where I feel like I've probably added the most to my collection. Having split dyed hair required a lot of hair products, especially blonde hair products!
Leave-in conditioner is kind of one of those things that I am always looking for at TJ Maxx. While I typically like Ouai's leave-in conditioner, I figured I would switch it up. 4.5 oz of leave-in conditioner for less than $30 was an easy purchase, and I use this pretty much anytime I wash my hair. It makes combing through the right side of my hair so much easier. Plus, it smells great!
Per the rules of the Plastics, I ponytail my hair once a week (More Ariana Grande than Cady Heron at the lunch table tho). I had noticed that I get a lot of frizz as the days go on. My hairdresser recommended I buy one of these sticks, and it's fab. Perfect for on the go! I feel so much more put together when my ponytail isn't frizzy and I can touch my hair up through the day with this stick!
I have finally come to terms with the fact that I need two different foundations for the year. One for summer and one for fall through spring. It's something I'm not happy about, but having two shades now seems to bring me less distress. I've been wearing this
Strobe Dewy Skin Tint in medium 2 in the fall, once I start to lose my tan. I really like the look of this skin tint! It's very
natural-dewy-looking, but not too
natural-looking that it looks crazy with a full eye look.
I became a big Laneige fan back in
2021, and honestly, I would've never guessed that this would be the product that I carry with me everywhere! This lip gloss is just so comforting and long-lasting! I had this on my wishlist for a holiday gift exchange, in fact, it was the only thing I wanted because I had lost my Berry one somewhere in Alabama. Funny enough, my friend Lydia understood the assignment and got me this =')
It's funny that I have two lip glosses on this roundup, because if you had told me that I would've tried something other than Laneige, I would've laughed! But then I picked up my birthday gift from Sephora, and they had the
Summer Fridays option! I love this lip gloss. It smells like something from my childhood that I can't quite put my finger on, and it has a sheer pink tint to it!
I ran out of my go-to Dr. Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Water, and couldn't find it to restock =( So, I decided to switch to Drunk Elephant. Many of you know I love their products, but they are pricier (This bottle retails for $32). I was so pleasantly surprised! This micellar water works great to take off makeup, even mascara. And a little goes a long way. I've had this bottle for a little over a year, and I use it about 5-6x a week.
As the years gracefully accumulate, I've become... well acquainted with some fine lines on my forehead. They're a part of the journey, so, I've made peace with their presence. That being said, I'm always interested in exploring ways to soften them. I've used this concentrate on and off for a long time, and I usually feel like my fine lines are a little less noticeable. I found this bottle for under $20 on eBay, brand new!
Many of you know how much I love Pharrell. Initially, I learned about his skincare line, which he created with his dermatologist, Dr. Elena Jones, in his
Vogue Beauty Secrets video, and his products have been on my list ever since. So when I got the three-minute facial routine for Christmas, I was so giddy. This cream is everything. It's so soothing and hydrating, and has ingredients like squalane and hyaluronic acid. Typically, I use this more as a night cream, but it could be used for day/night. I love that all of his products are refillable! I wish Humanrace were sold at a bigger box beauty store, but I digress.
I still can't fully decide how I feel about this cleanser, but I can solemnly swear that I like it. I grab for it more times than not. It's a powder-to-foam cleanser that you control with water. I tend to go through a couple of rounds of washing just to make sure I get everything off my face. Overall, my face feels clean and not dry after washing when I use this, and I just love the packaging. I don't think I'd refill, especially since Checks and Balances is our household facial cleanser, but I am enjoying using something different!
It feels so nice to be back to blogging, and I actually have been brainstorming some more beauty posts. Having a camera at home and a decent little setup for taking pictures has made beauty blogging easier and more accessible. Plus, a way for me to express my creativity and reconnect with you all through something I enjoy.
A few other things are bringing me joy lately. I'm completely smitten with SABLE, fABLE by Bon Iver. I already know Walk Home is going to be one of my top five songs of the year. I've also been enjoying Ruth Ware novels. And of course, the longer days and warmer weather make my heart happy. I walked home from a neighbor's apartment the other day on a warm spring night, and it made me eager for summer. Finally, I've been watching Bunheads on Hulu for the first time, and it's so delightful and good! I can't believe I've never seen it?!
Well, that's all, folks, it's been nice to catch up, but talk soon!
