March Sephora Play 2017 Review

April 14, 2017

Extra late to last month's Sephora Play review, but I'm sharing all the details with you today!
The theme of the March 2017 Sephora Play bag was the "Gleam Team." Although I'm not really sure how dry shampoo fits into the glow theme, but hey I'm not logistics!
Other items I saw in this box were Algenist Reveal Concentrated Lumizing Drops in Pearl, Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in I-544, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal, Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Big Bang, Verb Ghost Oil, Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion, and something from Kristals.

I was psyched when I saw another GLAMGLOW product in this month's Play Box. This moisturizer claims to be a two-in-one moisturizer that luminizes, hydrates, blurs, and enhances complexions. It can be worn alone or underneath foundation. I've only worn it alone and could see a difference, making my face glow and soothing my imperfections. I am excited to try this product with the Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm, and with my KVD Lock-It Foundation.

I remember when Watt's Up first came out. I bought it from Sephora relatively quickly (I used to really love all of Benefit's products), and it wasn't until this year that I am at the bottom of it. I've always been a fan of this mini and its perfect for traveling. Over the years I've got this mini on several occasions and its lasted for quite sometime. I bought another highlighter recently, which I plan to review next week, and it just isn't the same as the iconic Watt's Up. Although I hardly buy Benefit Cosmetics these days, there will always be a spot in my heart and makeup bag for this highlighter.
Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm

I really love Josie Maran's products so I'm always excited to try something new. This finishing balm is a skin-care hybrid that primes and finishes with a whipped formula. You can either use this product as the first or last step in your makeup regimen (personally I choose first). As usual this product has argan oil in it which is some nice extra hydration in your makeup game. I really didn't notice smoother skin when applying this after I applied moisturizer. Maybe I need to use more than a penny size? Anyone try or own this product?

At first when I saw this eye shadow stick I was a bit frustrated since November's bag came with a Laura Mercier Stick Eye Color in Rose Gold. This Bobbi Brown Cream shadow stick is a bit peachier, pinker, and not as shiny. You can also use this eye shadow to brighten up your brow bones. I wore this two different ways, one all over which I couldn't decide was too much but I think I liked it. The second way I wore it was blended in with KVD Shade + Light eye palette shadow in Ludwin. This eye shadow stick is definitely long lasting and I personally think looks prettier as the day goes by. I did prefer the more subtle eye look with this shadow stick blended in. I did find that there is still glitter residue after using makeup wipes and my Clarisonic. I haven't tried using an eye makeup remover (plus makeup wipes) with this cream shadow stick but I think I might since there is still glitter on my eyelids after I wash my face =/

It definitely frustrates that Sephora Play has some monotony to it. December's (2016) Sephora Play bag had Drybar Detox dry shampoo in it and I still haven't finished it. Personally I feel like getting  a dry shampoo in 5 months would have been better than the 3 month window in which I received it. Although if this was the summer and I was interning again I'd be really grateful, but I've been pretty good at keeping up with my oily scalp lately. Nonetheless this dry shampoo is gonna take a back seat while I finish off my Drybar Detox.

I absolute hate, hate, hate floral perfumes so I will be giving this sample to my mom who coincidentally adores this fragrance.

Overall this month was an interesting array of products. Personally I could've done without the dry shampoo and the Chloe perfume sample. I really would've liked either Urban Decay sample particularly the primer or the lipstick. I've been wanting to try a Verb product too so the Ghost Oil would have been a nice addition to my skincare regimen.

I hope everyone is enjoying their April. It has been true, rainy, spring weather here in Kansas and I've felt so grateful and blessed to watch another spring bloom. I get to walk by blooming trees and a handful of lilac bushes back to my apartment, and I can't help but just feel thankful. I turn 22 on Sunday and I'm spending the weekend in Kansas City. Getting manicures and IHOP with my girlfriends, too much Starbucks, and seeing John Mayer tonight (outfit details to come).

Soon I'll be another year older, and I'm so grateful you're here with me.
x, C

  6. I have the Watt's Up highlight, which I used upon occasion and I really like it, I actually keep it in my makeup bag I keep in my purse for when I forget to apply highlight in a hurry. I'd be curious to know what you think of that dry shampoo once you get around to it. It can be so hard to find one that works and doesn't end up making your hair that much greaser. Thanks for sharing, girlie, and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!
