May Sephora Play 2017 Review

July 7, 2017

Hi fam! Another month, another late Sephora Play post! This post is brought to you by my fabulous new friend Brenna from BMB Photography as we continue our collaboration together.

I'll be honest I was a bit nervous about this Sephora Play Bag, since April's was pretty meh, but I'm excited to talk about what's in the May bag!

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt
Wow this scrub is worth almost $10 alone, making the $10 price for the box more than reasonable! This is a detoxifying shampoo with sea salt. It cleanses sensitive and oily scalps while providing hydration at the same time. I decided to try this after a few days of too much build up from shampoo/conditioner/dry shampoo because this product claims to remove buildup and rebalance oily scalps/itchiness, while removing impurities. The texture of this scrub was really thick, like sugar scrub thick but once you start to lather it out in your hands its easy to spread and it actually lathers which is crazy. I wasn't sure how much to use (I used about a half dollar size) but I think next time I'll use a bit more. I do feel like my hair has some build up still left over on the first use, but on the second the build up was non-existent! I think its a winner though, the texture is odd but its cool.

I always love a good face cleanser from Sephora Play and this cleanser appeals to acnes and blemishes which my normal skin incurs. I personally didn't notice any revolutionary results but I do like having a new face wash! I like to wash my face with this cleanser and my Clarisonic Mia along side my radiance brush head.

TreStique Highlight & Perfect Multipurpose Stick
Sometimes the whole highlight and contour on a regular basis is a little much for lazy ol' me. I like this highlighter stick because it gives a nice subtle but pretty highlight. I've never used TreStique products before but I've always been intrigued by the mini contour kit so this was a nice introduction to the brand. Surprisingly this product has more oz (0.21 oz) in comparison to the travel kit which is 0.04 oz.

Grande Cosmetics GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper
I'll be the first to say that I am terrified of lip plumpers. When I see them internally I'm telling myself, "Oh hell no girl your lips are fine." I'm so terrified of whatever ingredient causes that feeling that seems to make my lips feel on fire/bleeding. I was so surprised when I found that this lip plumper wasn't terrifying at all. Instead I really liked the effect and I definitely think my lips are a bit fuller and plumper. I'd be curious to see how this product works after 30 days. In comparison to the Too Faced Lip Injections which I received in my Feburary (2017) Sephora Play this lip plumper is a million times better and doesn't have the harsh on fire feeling.

I've been wanting to try NudeStix for sometime now. I don't own any brown lipsticks although Kylie Cosmetics initially intrigued me back into the trend. This lipstick is a three in one, lip stain, lip color, and lip liner with intense color and in rich nude shades. I was amazed with the intensity and pigment of theis lip color. I applied lip balm, and then applied this lip color. Shortly after the application it dried down into a matte lip look. Personally I don't think this lip color is unusually drying, but all matte lipsticks are somewhat drying, right? I haven't found the right outfit to wear brown lipstick yet, any thoughts + how will I do my eyes? Neutral?!

I've received this sample before and actually have talked about it in my March 2016 Sephora Pay Review, but this is one of those samples that make life just a little bit sweeter. Maison Martin Margiela 'REPLICA' Beach Walk smells amazing! It has notes of lemon, pink pepper, coconut milk, and cedarwood. I love this perfume!

Overall this month was a nice selection of products and I was pleased I got another sample of the Beach Walk perfume (you need to smell it). I am really considering buying another deluxe sample of the purifying sea salt shampoo, its just fascinating. If you see at a Sephora just take a little and lather it, mind blowing.

Hope everyone is having a great week. I am headed to Dallas with my best friend Stephanie so be sure to my follow my IG Story these next few days. I probably should finish packing, huh?

  14. I cancelled play after April because the bag was so bad. OF course I immediately regretted it because May's bag was so great! The hair scrub has been on my wish list for some time but it's so pricey XD Hope you have a lovely trip to Dallas!

  16. If I lived in the States or Canada, I would totally subscribe to Sephora Play. I think the price is quite good and you get to try so many nice little products, which even in their travel size form cost more on their website. Lovely post! xx
