This lovely piece of artwork was done by Lena Komarova. Lena is only 12 years and a blogger form Kazakhstan. She is so incredibly talented, and guess what! She did some artwork for JMC! I discovered Elena Komarova quite some time ago because she always illustrates one of my favourite bloggers, Song of Style. The thing I love the most about her artwork is that she's so meticulous, she gets all the details, and leaves her own personal mark on every piece of artwork. Please check out Lena's Instagram feed, and blog. You won't regret it!

I hate, hate, hate chipped nail polish. If there is one thing I cannot stand on myself and others it’s chipped nails. I totally get it. Not all of us have a personal manicurist on hand and in a society so demanding chipped nails are inevitable, right? I’d like to think I’m one of the women who tries to avoid this tragedy at all costs. Last July, I started doing my own gel nails and I’ve never looked back. I still remember the first time I got Shellac done at a salon my junior year of high school, I HATED IT. My French was too thin, and it started chipping within a week. I’m pretty sure that was the first time the lady had done it as well. Also, taking gel nails off can be the biggest pain but I’ve learned some tricks here or there. LED lamps are life changing, honestly. No chips, your nails (may or may not grow stronger and longer), and your finger nails look nice all the time.

Last time I saw my high school French teacher she was wearing this amazing shade of polish. I fell for it instantly and prayed it came in gel. It's called Peace & Love & OPI. My picture doesn't do a justice whatsoever but its a duochrome from OPI that shifts from blue to purple. I knew I had to have it. Despite the $16.50 price tag, it was worth every penny. Plus it’ll last 2+ weeks without chipping! I'm obsessed. Tell me your thoughts on gel nail polish! Why or why not?

{My roses - my roommate took}
Do you guys remember what I said 2014 would be the year of? Well, it's not quite the year of the horse, or the year that everyone goes to Brooklyn for Fashion Week, or even the year Leonardo DiCaprio has a shot at winning an Oscar. It's the year that I get glasses! I still remember failing an eye exam my freshman year of high school, that was traumatizing. I never really thought much about being near-sighted in my right eye, but shortly after moving to college I realized that I needed a pair of glasses especially for driving at night. So my roommate finally convinced my mom to get me an appointment. Finding a pair was impossible, probably because my standards are super high, and I couldn't find any KARL LAGERFELD GLASSES IN KANSAS CITY. SERIOUSLY. I did settle on a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs which I think make me look a bit older.

Besides my new glasses, I am obsessed with this coat c/o Trendy Blendy. It's called the Silly Wabbit Sweater Coat. One might think it's pretty different from what I typically wear, but I like it simply for that reason. My friends often make fun of me for how similar items are in my closet, but I thought I'd prove them wrong and choose something I had nothing like this time! I feel like I can fall asleep in this coat, hide away in it, among many things. It's a diverse coat because it's sort of a sweater at first glance but its also surprisingly warm with faux fur in the inside. What else? It has the cutest nerdy bunnies on it! Who could say no to those? I feel like they describes me in a way. Plus, in this snow it's nice to just grab on when I'm running late.

Hope y'all have a lovely Valentines Day! One of my favourite bands, Tokyo Police Club, put out a Valentines Day single, give it a listen!

I've got the worst case of February blues y'all. Despite Billie Joe Armstrong and Kurt Cobain's birthdays, Galentines and Valentines Day I am so over this weather, and so over February. Last week we had two snow days, but this weather is such a drag. Nonetheless, I'm making due with the obstacles and eagerly looking forward to spring. I don't think I've ever been so excited in my life for spring. Today I am wearing: Nicolette Deco Blouse c/o LeTote, jeans from Hollister, ankle boots from Target, and Lugano Links Necklace c/o LeTote as well. I'm really obsessed with this blouse, it has got quite a vintage feel and also reminds me of a pattern from the Gatsby trailer. It's also a very day to night blouse, so I can wear it both to class and to my house church tonight! You might've noticed I got an Instax Mini 8 ^_^ I'm so excited! I haven't taken any actual pictures on it yet due to the weather, but I'm so excited to have some sort of polaroid camera again. I used to have a Polaroid One Step, but it mysteriously vanished (I think someone stole it) and I haven't gotten around to buying another because of how pricey the film is! Be ready to see some Instax shot looks in the near future!

Thanks to my awesome roommate/best friend/photographer Liz for taking these pictures in the cold!
