February Sephora Play 2018 Review

March 15, 2018

Hi friends! I'm back! I've been so busy with school and life lately I haven't actually sat down to write a blog post from start to finish, but here I am reviewing last month's Sephora Play box. I actually didn't end up writing one on January's box because Sephora Play has been getting on my nerves. I've been getting a lot of duplicate products these past few months and last month I did get one winner the Ole Henriksen Hygge HydraClay Detox Mask, but aside from that I wasn't terribly fond of it. So in case you were wondering I wasn't a huge fan of January's box. I was weary when February's box came but I was excited to try 4 new products especially with Peter Thomas Roth and Nars to try.

I've tried Belief's the Truth cream several times from Sephora Play, but never the moisturizing eye bomb. Its an eye cream that helps smooth fine lines with 26 hours of moisture. Somedays the fine lines under my eyes really bother me and I get super self conscious. I definitely have noticed this cream has boosted elasticity and made the lines under my eyes less prominent/noticeable. I have been using a combination of several eye creams and this one has worked the best so far.

I love Peter Thomas Roth products so this was one of those products that made me excited about this past month's box. At first I thought this was a mask but its really just a peeling gel that exfoliates your skin. Still not something I see everyday in the beauty aisle! Its supposed to be used for dryness and dullness/un even texture, but I like using it more when my pores are noticeably big. It has pineapple, pomegranate, and keratinase enzymes!

At first when I opened this lipstick the whole tube fell out, which was not ideal, but I grew to really like this lipstick. I would say this is a berry red, it definitely has some purple or blue in it which was different than most reds that I own. I really am fond of Sephora Collection lipsticks. They're really quality and have a long wear time. This was the first matte that I've tried from SC. Without prepping the lip it dries a little patchy, but with the proper prepping it looks great. Even the boyfriend liked this color which is really saying something!

I was so excited to see this lip pencil in my box. The color is just so pretty! Let's Go Crazy (a strange name for a relatively normal looking color) is a cool fuchsia lip pencil with a semi-matte finish. I find that some Nars lip pencils are super drying but this pencil wasn't and applied creamy. These lip pencils are great for blending lipsticks or as a lip liner!

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Rose Gold
I received this eye shadow stick back in my November '16 box and didn't use it much. If you're looking for an eye shadow without needing the drama of brushes these would be a great pick- they also come in matte shades which I think would be great. I do like a natural eyeshadow close to my skin tone. Since I've tried this color before I gave it to my makeup loving friend Rachel.

Atelier Cologne Vanille Intense
I think I need to make a spreadsheet about the Sephora Play items I've gotten over the years because I've gotten a perfume/postcard from Atelier Cologne 4 times. Twice I've received the orange sanguine cologne, once I lost one so I have no idea what it was, and once I received the sud magnolia. Out of all of them I am most fond of vanilla intense. Surprisingly this fragrance is os much more than vanilla. The notes in this perfume are lime, coriander, jasmine, vetiver, oak moss, vanilla, oak wood, and amber. Although I wouldn't buy a full size this is a nice cologne to try!
Another month, another Sephora Play box and I'm always left pondering where else my $10 should go? What would you buy? Out of this month's products I am really enjoying the Sephora Collection lipstick. It has been a go to for me at work + out and about! I've also been loving the eye cream from Belief as well. Back to my accounting project friends, the MBA life never quits! No spring break this year ='( I will be back next week talking about style, stay tuned!

What are some of your current beauty favorites?

  1. Wow, I didn't even know that Sephora had a monthly subscription box! It's a real shame you've been getting duplicate products though and I think one of the reasons I don't do beauty boxes is so often I just don't use what I get given!

  2. It's a shame you have been getting duplicate products, especially when they aren't things you love! But good that you like this month's box a little more.

Hope study isn't too stressful and you do get some time to relax even though you won't be having a break!

  3. it sucks that you got duplicates, especially when you didn't like them the first time around. Have you ever tried Birchbox? I had a subscription for awhile and only stopped because I had way too many products that I've yet to try or finish. I think they're pretty great when it comes to sending you amazing products. Also, I hope your accounting project goes well! Good luck with it ❤️

  5. Nice selection of products this month! I must say I am curious about the eye cream; lately I also notice some very fine smile lines underneath my eyes - so if it can help with that, I'll be all over it :-D

  11. That's really terrible that you got duplicate products! I would like to try Belief eye cream, it seems like a nice eye cream to start with. And Laura Mercier eye shadow stick has been in my list, definitely want it!
    I hope you’re having a smooth sailing week! :)
