Red Alert

August 22, 2019

When I was in undergrad my friends would tell me that all the clothes I bought looked the same. It was always something I thought was funny because in a way its sort of true. I tend to gravitate towards silhouettes and styles that I'm familiar with and that I know will suit my petite frame. I'd rather buy iterations of things that I would actually like then invest in trendy pieces that aren't durable.
Last summer I gave into the one shoulder trend. This style is so wearable- jeans, shorts, a nice pencil skirt! Plus its a great quality top made from natural fibers. I liked this top so much I wanted another. This red top was so beautiful with the eyelet detail. Its so versatile and such a great top for Kansas City summers! Plus I got this blouse for $10 off Poshmark!
Instead of opting for my normal "Cool Girl Summer Uniform" (going three summers strong) where I would normally wear this shirt, shorts, and Birkenstocks I paired this top with a pair of skinny jeans and wedges.
I had been eying this Gucci Belt with Crystal Dionysus Buckle since I saw Lisa Vanderpump wear it a few seasons ago in RHOBH. Don't judge! LVP has a real British Girlboss/Barbie kind of style that I just love. I had never seen this style before and it was so classy and unique. The Dionysus buckle is definitely a shift from the GG style which I wish would all just get sucked into a sinkhole. Plus the Dionysus style/buckle actually has a little myth behind it. Dionysus is said to have crossed the river Tigris on a tiger sent by Zeus.
Percy Jackson would've been proud of my purchase. Although it was on the pricier side this belt is so beautiful and ornate. I am wearing a size 75 for reference. Gucci belt sizing is tricky and honestly I wish I would've gotten a 70 or smaller? I visited the Gucci store and they said you can get more holes added to the belt for $35 each (Although mine cost $25). They send it to their warehouse in Jersey. What do you think of my matte red nails? Different right?

Overall I am pretty happy with this belt. I did think it was funny that in Killing Eve Villanelle wore this belt. #STYLEGOALS

I think this has been the best week I've had in a long time. Since I technically had school last week on my cruise this is my week off and it has been GLORIOUS. I've spent so much time reading, catching up on TV, spending time with my friends, going to Sephora (PSA VIB/Rouge sale is happening rn), and I even went to a Gilmore Girls trivia night with some friends yesterday! This week has really made me feel so grateful for all of the people in my life. You keep me going through this rough patch and I can't thank you enough. Your company and friendship means so much to me.

In other news, I start my last semester of graduate schools (Where has time gone?!) next week. I am both excited and nervous. I take 3 more classes and then I'm done! So I'm not sure what the blog will be like during that time, but working on the blog so vigorously this week has been such a joy so I feel like there will still be more to come as always.

  2. Brit, GirlBooss, Barbie, haha. I don't think I've ever seen those words together in one sentence, great description of her though. I love your the off-shoulder top. I don't wear them enough, I'm keen on the style though. <3 /Madison

  3. I think I could probably be accused of wearing the same type of clothes too but when you find something that suits you, it's hard not to go with it! I do however love a bit of bare shoulder action and you're nailing it!

Good luck with your last semester - you're going to nail it!

  4. You always find such amazing bargains! I'm guilty of the same silhouette club, I need to introduce some more colour to my wardrobe too so I love looking at your recommendations as you also pair colour so well xx
