Not Your Average Blouse

June 24, 2020

An interesting fact about me is that surprisingly my favorite designer is not Chanel (a close second). It's actually Anna Sui! I've loved Anna's work for a very long time. She's created so many archetypes in her designs ranging from punk to Americana that make her work so multifaceted and interesting. I think that's why I love her work so much. You can dress mod or punk depending on the day when wearing Anna Sui! Also, she's collaborated with so many great brands like Hello Kitty, Barbie (She has her own collector Barbie doll which I still want tbh), Free People, Target, etc. I got this book for my birthday and its probably one of my favorite because it really delves into Anna's designs and archetypes.
I missed out on the Anna Sui x I.N.C. collaboration that came out a couple of years ago. It was a great collection that featured more of Sui's Americana archetype with Western flair. This blouse was one that I initially missed but managed to find it on Poshmark for $30 back in April. A steal considering it retailed in store for $139. I bought it as an early birthday present to myself.

White blouses are such a staple in my wardrobe. They have such a clean and elegant look and they go with everything! Initially I felt a little guilty about purchasing this blouse because I already own so many white blouses, and you know #2020dressingchallenge? I figured in the long run that this piece was going to be a good addition to my wardrobe for days when I want something dressier to wear at work or to go out.
I've had these heels for so long! I don't ever get enough wear out of them but with so many white blouses now I have no excuse.
I have a slight obsession with colored doorways can you tell? They make me so happy!

The details on this blouse are so beautiful. I know this will be a piece I wear and appreciate for a very long time.

Spending all this time at home has allowed me to take better care of my hair and my skin. Although they don't look great here my ends are the best they've ever been!
Me contemplating moving into this shop
The days begin to get shorter but they still seem long and hot in Kansas City. I've spent more time with my friends from a distance these past couple of weeks which I'm immensely grateful for. I've been swimming, taking walks (almost at 400 miles this year), reading Rob Lowe's auto-biography which is fantastic I might add, and eating lots of ice cream. How's everyone holding up?!

Wearing: Top - Anna Sui x I.N.C. (sold out, but similar), jeans - Urban Outfitters, shoes - Betsey Johnson (sold out see this post for more details, but super similar), lipstick - YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Rose Stiletto

  4. Oh what a beautiful top! The details are so stunning. I love the somewhat Victorian feel it has mixed in with the western. It looks lovely on you and I like the way it looks paired with the denim, allowing for it to really be the focal point of your outfit. Simply stunning! I, too, appreciate when an designer or any artist for that matter is multifaceted. It proves that they are well rounded, open minded and challenge themselves to pull inspiration from everything that truly inspires them. Thanks for sharing and I hope you're having a great start to your week, babes!
